Hang flyers around your town (pet stores, dog parks, even shopping malls and dog grooming parlors, anywhere animal people congreate or hang out (of course always ask first I'm sure you know that)) to get the word out. Tell as many people as you can who you think would be interested, even if they are not, maybe they will tell a friend of their about "this lady I know who is making dog treats" and that person will say awesome I want some!!
I make dog coats and through word of mouth and hanging flyers advertising myself and my aparent skills (lol, my co-workers call me the really-cool-dog-coat-making lady) at my office and in my bosses office and my dogs groomer, people are getting to hear about what I do. You could even advertise in the newspaper via a little add or something like that? Might be a bit expensive (I think out local paper charges $160 for a three inch by two inch add and they keep it in the paper for two weeks) but it gets the word out.

Rent a booth at a fair. Outdoor small town fairs you can get a booth sometimes for $25 for the weekend.

I just thought of another Idea make small sample packages and attach a business card or a little info fllyer and pass them out at dog parks to the owners.

What is EDU and do you need insurance to make dog treats???

I make Marienette (I know spelling) birds and sell them. I do not need insurance. I do not even need a license I have one but that is not saying much any Joe Schmo can go to county clercks and buy a license.

well i would think if i was selling treats which are easy to make myself at home, that if i sold them and they casued a recation or something wen wrong and oised the dog that i would have insurance to pay for like vet fee and things like that, if ur dog got sick eating say a pedigree treat and had togo to the vets there insurance would pay out for like compansation that sort of thing. or am i just being silly but i would want to know that just incase i no its not lickly but i wouldnt want to be stuck wit a £200 vet bill would u, most companys have inserance.

Dog treats as fundraiser

Try using the dog treats as a local fundraiser. Find a cause you love. Maybe a pet related cause. Tie it together with a local dog club maybe. Dog club people can be a lot of fun to work with too. You could write a public relations article about it for your local Sunday paper. The newspaper people love to be handed well written complete articles because they like their job to be done for them. You might get on the local news. Nothing like a great charity. The positive good will would have your name all over the place. You might wear your biscuit oven out making biscuits after the fundraiser is over.
