| Amazon.com promoting animal fighting? http://www.hsus.org/press_and_public...n_lawsuit.html
Not sure where to post this thread but thought it was important enough to share...
Please read the online article when you have time. As a dog lover I was appalled to find this out about Amazon.com. I've used Amazon for years but just recently wrote to them and have removed myself as a customer. |

| I don't think they should be sued but I personally won't be associated with Amazon anymore. As an animal/dog lover, I can't support anyone who sells these items.

| I recommend buying The Art of War, by Sun Tzu from Amazon.com.
"It is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles; if you do not know your enemies but do know yourself, you will win one and lose one; if you do not know your enemies nor yourself, you will be imperiled in every single battle." |

You may be free to yell fire in a crowded building, but I can assure you there will also be repercussions. Same here. IF they were KNOWINGLY sellings items that are prohibited by law, well, then they are going to have to pay the price for that.
This article is on the HSUS web site, so I'm not exactly sure how accurate or impartial it is. Will be an interesting case to watch. |

| Here's another (actual news) article: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/busine..._amazon08.html
I know cock fighting is illegal in many places, but is it illegal in all states? |

| Freedom of speech arguments aside, I don't agree with it.
Amazon is selling cockfighting periodicals and videos of dogfighting in order to make money. I can't see anything about it that makes me think it's okay on any level.
Death is the only outcome for the animals being exploited on these DVDs and in these magazines and to profit from it is wrong; there is no justification for it. |

| How about another book recommendation to purchase from Amazon.com...George Orwell's 1984.
"It was curious to think that the sky was the same for everybody, in Eurasia or Eastasia as well as here. And the people under the sky were also very much the same—everywhere, all over the world, hundreds or thousands of millions of people just like this, people ignorant of one another's existence, held apart by walls of hatred and lies, and yet almost exactly the same—people who had never learned to think but were storing up in their hearts and bellies and muscles the power that would one day overturn the world." |

| Louisanna ansd New Mexico allow cock fighting still. (It was stated in the last article posted by Lorina). That is awful. Though if you consider, with Amazon and even EBay and other shopping sites, people sell whatever they want to sell and the only way it is taken down is if someone either tells the site administrators or if the administrators discover it and take it down. Its sad but true. I am no expert on how the sites work, but it is a public auction site basically and people sell their own stuff on it, whether that be a table lamp, or a dog fighting video. |

| I'm not sure that they knowingly posted those dvds for sale. They probably list all products from their suppliers... Still a bad choice of who to work with... |

| I'd be interested to see what Amazon's side of the story is, since that article was quite biased against them. I do belive the way the site works is somewhat similar to ebay, that you sell whatever you have and unless the site admin is notified or sees it then they never know whats going on. |

My Seniors just read that last semester. Interesting connection. |
