Brussels Griffons, anyone?

My mom is considering getting one of these little guys. They're super cute, and I think they're right up her alley.

I've read quite a bit about the breed standard, and I know how to get in contact with the local breed club to ask for referrals when the time is right.

What I'm looking for is anyone who know what it's like to have one as a pet- how they are to house break, if they're good watch dogs, if they're a one person type dog- etc.

The reason I'm so curious about personal stories, is that not every dog will act the way they're "supposed" to. Like, keeshonden are supposed to hate to play fetch, but Orchid's a champ.

Hope that gives anyone who is interested a place to start.

I have never had one but a friend of ours has a wire haired 10 month old male named Hubert. He is very sweet - reminds me a lot of a pug both in looks and personality although he is a bit more active than most pugs I have met(he chases squirrels and birds). We recently visited them with our girls and they all played (even with his toys) and got along great but when he is outdoors he is more aloof with other dogs and sticks by his Mum. Asked her about housebreaking - it has been a bit of a struggle as he still has an occasional accident and has taken a real dislike to the rain (does it a lot here). Training has been good he's quite willful sometimes. Barking and a bit of separation anxiety have been her only complaints.
My friend wants to get another one which says a lot.
