I am going away for my one vacation of the year at the end of this month.. YAY!

which means poor rosie needs to go to a kennel. i orignally had her booked at a petsmart pet hotel because i had no other options and i wanted to make sure she had somewhere to go. they were $27/night for a 4x8 room with science diet fed twice a day and you have to pay extra for the dogs to be taken out twice a day.

i found this other place with a 4x18 kennel run where they feed the dogs solid gold twice a day and take each individual dog out 3-4 times a day for at least 20 minutes. they give the dogs treats and plenty of playtime too. thats all inclusive for $30/night.

while its not ideal, it sounds pretty freaking good! i am beginning to wonder what the catch is!!

That sounds like the kennel where I board my dogs. It's out in the country and the people who own it (and live there) do it because they love dogs, not to make tons of money. That's the different between them and Petsmart.

the problem with the petshotels that petsmart offers is the staffing is minimal, so yeah, the dog sits in a cage. I've even heard of them not coming out at all.


The other place doesn't have nearly the overhead of the big box. They also probably aren't paying rent on a huge building like petsmart. I'd go with them.
