The Wild Child

I took Summer outside to potty and she started being silly, getting the zoomies and doing donuts around the field. Well, in the center of the field is a drainage ditch that always has water in it. She is typically deathly afraid of water like any good papillon. Well, today, she went zooming and just SPRUNG straight into the ditch! Then she bounced out and started zooming around again, looking like a ball of mud and grass. I wish my camera was charged, or I would've taken pictures. It was unbelievable! She went diving into the water, up past her chest...

She had to get a bath ASAP.

She also really just randomly turned on with her prey drive. She's been bringing me 'presents' of dead lizards pretty routinely (ew). She's also decided squirrels are very fun to chase, too.

And now, she's started trying to 'spice up' training. I guess the old trainer's going to slow for her taste so she's started combining tricks. Like, not in a row but calculating and doing something right in between two commands. For example, she knows how to 'jump' (which could either be straight in the air, or over a hurdle, or onto something) and she knows to 'dance' (stand on her back feet and spin in a circle. Now she's started doing this crazy jump-dance thing where she jumps up high in the air and spins at the same time. She's also started anticipating other things. She'll crawl forward and then before I say so, start hopping back.

This dog never ceases to amaze me.

Re: The Wild Child

maybe that lady was a witch and cast a spell on her...

My dog does that too. Switching up tricks and doing things before I tell her to like she is reading my mind or something...can be frustrating at times but it is very cute...

I am not really a little dog person but the way you describe Summer she really sounds like a dog I would get along with...

(i think she is my fav of your bunch..but..shhh...don't tell the others..)
