| Re: what do you think? Hm, I think a companion is a good idea. I decided to get my dog a companion, and they get along great. Although, sometimes I feel that my dog gets kinda peeved when we don't give him attention, because like a child with only child syndrome, he was just used to having so much attention. I guess that's not the case for your dog, though.
10 years old? Well, I don't know how he'll be able to handle a puppy, if you decide to get one. Some people say that it makes older dogs feel young, but some people say that it just peeves the older dog, because puppies are more mischevious and too energetic. When they don't want to play, they can easily get annoyed.
However, I would suggest getting a young dog but not a puppy. Best of both worlds? Maybe around 2 years of age or so. Um, I don't know how a chihuahua will handle with a beagle. They're really different personalities, and that can conflict the purpose of getting a companion for your beagle. Most chihuahuas are protective and yappy. But I guess that depends on how the owner treats them.
I think another beagle would be a great idea, but of course, I also do suggest trying out other dogs as well. Hm...maybe like the cocker spaniel or english charles spaniel. |
