What's Your Daily Routine?

Just wondering what everybody's daily routines were with their dogs

I have a five month old puppy and wanted to compare my schedule to some other people's, thanks!

Re: What's Your Daily Routine?

Hmmm. Well, my schedule now is different then my schedule when my puppies were 5 months old. But, now...

6:00 am (or so, depending on when Gabi starts whining): wake up for morning potty
6:15 am - morning walk for 40-hour
7:15 - 8:30 - individual playtime for the three dogs - 20-30 minutes each(Roe/Gabi - fetch, Mac - flirt)
8:30: 1st meal of the day - inside while mommy gets ready for work
9:00 potty time before I leave
9:15-3:30 Gabi is crated, Mac'n'Roe are in kitchen
3:30 - home for potty time. I usually leave Roe/Gabi outside for a while and Mac comes in with me while I work for another hour or so.
5:00 - 6:30 individual playtime with each dog (30 minutes each)
7:30 - dinner time
7:30 until bedtime - they are downstairs with me in the den, usually sleeping
9:00 - potty time sometime around 9:00.
11:30 - last potty of the night.

At five months...my schedule was WAY different. I would generally let them go four hours max at this age while I was gone for work. While at home..I would take them out RIGHT after meal time, after playtime, and generally every 1-2 hours or so.

Re: What's Your Daily Routine?

Here was my schedule when my dog Mya was between 6 weeks and probably 6 months...and pretty much the same when my parents dog Sophie was 8 weeks to about 8 months

Lets start this out at Midnight when the day actually starts

with Mya
4:30am potty break because the crying in the crate has become too annoying and i have to work in the morning
6:30 am potty break (still because i would be getting up)
7:30 am potty break
7:35 am to 7:55 am haning out in my room while i take shower
7:55 am to 8:30 am hanging out in my room while i get ready and eat breakfast
8:40 am I leave for work and Mom takes over (repeating potty breaks about every hour)
4:15pm, i get home and its outside for play time with the "chuck it" toy. 9 minutes of play time, heavy running for her and she loves it...9 minutes its all she can take, but it was probably a mile or so at heavy running
then about every 2 hours potty break
(we free feed our animals, she eats and drinks when she wants, we have never had problems of over eating pets)
9:30 pm bedtime.

Lets start at midnight with Sophie
1:00
2:00
3:00
4:00
6:00
7:15 AM ALL FRIGGIN POTTY BREAKS!!! (she was in a pet store that was closing and we couldn't let her go to someone else, but she used to pee and poo where she slept, so she was harder to break)
7:30 am to 8:40 am, be a pain in my butt, eating towels, cords, shirts, my bed, the carpet, and annoying the crap out of Mya
8:40 am, mom takes over and is stressed out more then ever
4:15pm i get home and after discovering all the things Sophie ate in my room and under my bed including pictures from junior high and a bunch of other stuff you can never replace we go outside to play with both dogs with the Chuch it for about 15 minutes, letting 1 run after the ball at a time.
They free feed and at 9:30 pm i go to bed....and mom takes care of dogs going to the bathroom until she goes to bed
10:30 pm my mom goes to bed
11:15pm sophie goes out
11:55 pm sophie goes out

i have never had a dog that went to the bathroom so much and ate so much stuff, but she sure loves the laser pointer, so she makes up for it in cuteness!!

Re: What's Your Daily Routine?

Casey is 4 months old. Schedule:
6:30 AM- wake up (Casey sleeps in crate), potty
7:00 AM- walk
7:30 AM- feed
8:00 AM potty then inside crate or in bathroom
10:30 AM- out of crate for potty and play, then back in crate
12:00 PM- potty, then eat, playtime, and back into crate
3 PM- potty, play, then back into crate
5 PM- walk
6 PM- eat, then potty
8 PM- sometimes another walk
10 PM- potty then bedtime
(Casey can hold his potty all night- yeah!)

The schedule varies because I'm home every other week so the dogs are inside with me most of the time (so Casey is not in his crate)- this is the schedule when I'm gone. We are also lucky because we live next to where my husband works, so he can come home frequently. And of course, playtime is scattered throughout the day!

You might want to do some research about laser pens and dogs. It really messes with them and it can make them neurotic. I've never read anything good about dogs who have played with laser pens.
