DIY Dog Crate

Hi everyone,

I just recently got a 9 wk old English Mastiff and am having trouble finding a sturdy crate that will be large enough for her as she grows. Very few local places carry anything large enough, and the ones that are available are pretty flimsy and poorly reviewed for sturdiness. So I've decided I'm going to take a look at building my own, and am wondering if anyone else has gone down this road and what they used to construct a crate.

My main concern is what materials are safe to use. Most fencing that is available is intended for outdoor use, and as such is zinc coated, which I know can be toxic to a dog in quantity. I'm not sure a dog would ever chew at it and ingest enough for this to be a problem, but I'm not willing to take that chance.

Any input or suggestions appreciated

Re: DIY Dog Crate

I'm at work and I think I almost peed my pants. That's just a really weird picture. I think Reuben might fit in that box, though, so I may just give those guys a call.

I have a Saint and only crated him until he was about 3 months old, so I didn't have to worry too much about the size. Sorry I can't be of much help, but whatever you do, tdx, make sure it fits on the roof of your car.
