My PWD just scared away an intruder and his dog....and saved my life.....sort of

So we're sitting on the couch watching a pacific theater war documentary...finally relaxing since the kids are asleep...and the PWD pup, now 10.5 weeks old, jumps up on the couch. Suddenly, she goes into her defensive mode...she sees something through the back windows of the house. She immediately begins to growl and gets into her best protective stance....and she lets loose with one warning bark. I sit up and look, and she begins to go nuts... Tonight, as far as she is concerned, she saved my life. Tonight, as far as I am concerned, she saw her first set of reflections in glass.

That had me laughing so hard my eyes were tearing!

That is adorable.

Isnt it a crime to not post enough pictures of her?

Kody does that too though, he'll sit up on the chair and see himself in a window and growl. Then i come up behind him and he gets SOOOO confused. lol.

At least you know you are safe if your twin and his pwd every try to break in!

Well 1st off I suppose you were watching that particular documentary because of all the water involved. PWDs need their daily doses of water. You will have to change the P from Portuguese to Protection. I do like a good alert dog. Remember to act normal though because what is kind of cute as a puppy can sometimes be a pain in the butt when they get older. Just act normal and don't go overboard with a lot of encouragement or you can end up with an older dog that runs about barking at anything and everything because he thinks you think it's cool. I myself do like a pup that fires up a little.

What a good puppy! I personally like a dog/puppy that feels the need to alert/guard me against some "bad guy", as long as they'll hush up when I tell them to.
Chloe's started to do that now, but she just won't shut up. We're working on that.

Haha, Ringo used to do that with our fireplace (it's semi-reflective), only he didn't bark and growl. Instead his ears went down and he started wagging his tail and the ROWRing begun. Must have been excited to see another dog in the house.

LOL, that is great

Bo is a great protector. He protects me against the broom, the mop, and the vacuum (so much so that I have to crate him while doing these activities!)

Adorable

My Dal used to do that. Makes you feel special when they get all defensive and protective. Saku is such a big baby most of the time but if something seems off, he'll suddenly turn into this majestic hero.

What's a PWD? Is it some kind of abbreviation for dog? Because I thought you'd just say dog. Or is it a shortened version of a name of a dog?

Unfortunatly the only PWD I've ever met was an aggressive mess, but your PWD is so cute! They sound like great dogs.

The ending was pretty funny-LOL. I totally encourage my dog when he acts like that, all 150 lbs of him. That's just because he hardly ever acts like that. It's cute to see that in puppies. You gotta take a pic when she's in her protective stance.

Blackrose, there is no better dog than a well trained PWD. And no worse dog than an untrained PWD.

These dogs are so intelligent, that if they are not trained, can really run a muck. The good news is, they are easy to train and love to be taught.
If you lead, they will follow. But if you're not prepared to be firm, consistent and repetitive, a PWD is a lot of dog.

So you mean at some point "comeheredammit" will learn her real name?? Right now its "Marley...come! Marley. MARLEY. HEY!!" *stomp foot* (dog turns and comes).
