Dog breed selector whats your results

So I took the test from the other thread. What did you get, is it consistant. Here is what I got..........

Animal Planet Test It seems in the past almost every test gives me the ACD or Weimaraner as top. Wonder what I did differently this time.

Australian Cattle Dog 97% Probably not, they are such a smart and lovely ranch dog but just too many around here, I don't know that they fit me so well.
Belgian Malinois 96% I do plan to get another Belgian sometime in this life or possibly a Dutch Shepherd
Border Collie 96%
Australian Shepherd 95%
Beauceron 95% A favorite of mine
Belgian Sheepdog 95% Not so much, although they are a good breed
Belgian Tervuren 95% Too much hair, but they are nice
Weimaraner 95% No way!

Next
German Shorthaired Pointer 94%
German Wirehaired Pointer 94%
Parson Russell Terrier 94%

Doberman Pinscher 93%
German Pinscher 93%
Giant Schnauzer 93%
Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever 93%

Brittany 92%
German Shepherd Dog 92%
Rhodesian Ridgeback 92%

Airedale Terrier 91%
American Staffordshire Terrier 91% Give me an APBT and I'll be very happy.
Boxer 91% Yes, loved them. Probably wouldn't have again because of health issues.
Bull Terrier 91% DH wants another so I'm sure about that one
Irish Setter 91%
Pointer 91%
Polish Lowland Sheepdog 91%
Rottweiler
Smooth Fox Terrier
Staffordshire Bull Terrier I really want one sometime
Toy Fox Terrier

Akita 90% Maybe, I'd rather have a Kai Ken
American Water Spaniel
Canaan Dog If only I had the time to really have one
Dalmatian
Glen of Imaal Terrier
Irish Terrier
Irish Water Spaniel
Labrador Retriever
Manchester Terrier (Standard)
Miniature Bull Terrier These guys are cute.
Miniature Pinscher

Dog Breed Selector

100 German Shepherd Dog From the right lines pretty nice
92 Rottweiler Would fit
89 Giant Schnauzer Not doing the hair
86 Doberman Pinscher Would fit
84 Belgian Sheepdog
84 Belgian Tervuren
78 Mastiff Too much drool
78 Rhodesian Ridgeback Nice but maybe not for me?
77 Bullmastiff Kind of drooly but nice
77 Puli No thanks

Here is from Dogbreedinfo.com

Ainu Dog I know these as Hokkaido and do like them
Airedale Terrier Also on other test, must be compatible but I don't like the hair much
Akita Inu
Alano Español Still hope to own one some day
Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog I worry about breathing problems
American Bulldog Did that
American Mastiff (Panja) Nice looking but I'll stick with Cane Corso
American Pit Bull Terrier YES
American Staffordshire Terrier Probably not
American White Shepherd
Anatolian Shepherd Dog
Australian Cattle Dog
Australian Kelpie Did that
Austrian Shorthaired Pinscher
Azawakh Possibly
Beauceron
Belgian Mastiff Not real sure
Bergamasco No
Berger des Picard Wouldn't be the right type of owner
Black Mouth Cur
Blue Lacy These are ok along with Patterdales
Bluetick Coonhound
Boerboel Did that
Bohemian Shepherd They seem nice
Border Collie This was at the top of the other test.

Re: Dog breed selector whats your results

For me it's the Dobie @ 96% and GSD at 95% (my personal all time fav!) The Giant Schnauzer @ 94%, Anatolin Shepherd 93%, Black Russian Terrier 93% (hmmm, don't know a thing about that breed), Bouvier des Flandres 93%, Akita 92%. The Borzoi also came in at 92%. I think they are beautiful dogs and have always wanted one. Maybe after my current crew have all passed....

and the pound puppy crew.

Re: Dog breed selector whats your results

Hey...that's the first breed selector that's actually put greyhounds #1 for me.

My list:
98% Greyhound
97% Great Dane - too slobbery
97% Irish Wolfhound - will own one day
97% Pharoah Hound - will probably never own. I don't prefer their color. Would opt for Ibizan instead.
97% Red Bone Coonhound - too howly
97% Saluki - would love to own
97% Scottish Deerhound - would love to own
96% Bassett Hound - too slobbery

After that it drops off pretty rapidly of breeds I'd ever own, even though they're a "96%" match - mostly the scent hounds and retrievers.

Re: Dog breed selector whats your results

I hit 100% with Airedales, Borzois, Finnish Spitz, Akitas and Shiba Inus, which are all breeds that I have been actively researching. This is a pretty exceptional result, IMO, as most of the tests of this kind have more often given me results that were all over the place, and usually gave me low scores for compatibility with these and other breeds that I personally think might be good for me.

I also got 100% for Am. Water Spaniels and Wire-haired pointing Griffons, as well as 99s and 98s for a variety of other fairly active, playful dogs which made sense to me, although I am less familiar with some of them.

However, I don't really have that much confidence in any quick online test like this--too much depends on how the testee interprets a very small number of fairly imprecise questions. Also, important things like health and temperament are as much dependent on quality of breeding and upbringing. An example of a breed adopted as a mature dog that originated in a puppy mill might have a personality that is quite different than the 'standard' would lead one to expect.

This test was spot-on, as far as the direction my current thinking is going, but being told what one wants to hear is not necessarily proof of accuracy. I might just be getting better at answering the questions in such a way as to get the results I want.

p.s., eliminating large and medium dogs and answering all the other questions the same way (exactly in the middle for every one except size) yielded the Shiba Inu as the only 100% answer. As I have ben getting to know the people that run the local Shiba rescue in the last few days, this is a rather gratifying result. Hopefully it is not also wildly misleading.

Re: Dog breed selector whats your results

Well...

Dogbreedinfo gave my 441 matches, so that not helpful.

Animal Planet gave me 163 breeds at 90% or above

The other one...well I never got my results because they kept trying to get me to sign up for stuff and I got grumpy.

Re: Dog breed selector whats your results

Belgian Tervuran - 97% Would definitely own one day, love their looks and function

Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever - 96% I haven't ever been big into duck hunting, being more in pheasant and grouse country. Don't think I'd ever get a retriever, as I rarely even hunt those birds.

Polish Lowland Sheepdog - 96% No thanks. I really hate the looks of sheepdogs.

Australian Cattledog - 96% I would love one under one condition that I could take 4 weeks off of work to ultra socialize it with children between 8 and 12 weeks. These guys can be NASTY with kids if they receive less than stellar socialization.

Australian Shepherd - 96% Sort of a ACD but good with kids. Would definitely be interesed

Elkhound was only like 80% for me, with a ton of dogs I would never consider ranked much higher than it. Accurate enough test though.

Dog Breed Selector:

100 - Airedale Terrier: Don't really know much about them, but just from pics, I'm not a huge fan of their looks. Most times that I take this test they are way up there though.
92 - Belgian Sheepdog: Sheepdogs. Eww.
92 - Belgian Tervuren: Again, would love one.
92 - Standard Poodle: Oh god... sorry to poodle owners but I think these are quite possibly one of the ugliest dogs in existence. Every one I've met has had a VERY good personality but I just couldn't get over the looks.
91 - GSD Would definitely love a GSD. Preferably a long coat or all black working lines, but any would do.

Elkies were even lower on this one at 65

Dogbreedinfo:

Tervuren was on there again, also Canadian Eskimo Dog and Canaan Dog which are two of my dream breeds. I don't really like this test... the questions are really limiting and just don't seem very appropriate for actually picking a breed.

Hmm, I've never used one of these.

Siberian Husky: 94%
Border Collie: 94%
Welsh Terrier 94%
German Wirehaired Pointer: 93%

Hmm, and the rest are Terriers or Daschunds.
Weird, Malamutes aren't even on my list.

Oh, by the way, I used the Animal Planet one.

Dog Breed Info Results:

Airedale Terrier - eh, no thanks.
Alano Español - don't even know what that is.
American Bulldog - fine by me!
American Mastiff (Panja) - thought I clicked no hybrids...
American Pit Bull Terrier -
American Staffordshire Terrier -
Azawakh - Now THAT is an interesting dog.
Black Mouth Cur - eh.
Boxer - Am considering getting one for my next dog
Bull Terrier - okay
Cane Corso Italiano - love them
Cão de Fila de São Miguel - If I ever want a herding/working dog
Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog - little too active for my tastes
Catahoula Bulldog - again....no hybrids!
Chesapeake Bay Retriever - like them
Doberman Pinscher - I don't know
Dogo Argentino - ditto
Olde English Bulldogge - have researched them (the Leavitt Bulldogges, anyways) before. They are currently trying to get UKC registration.
Original English Bulldogge - eh.
Shar-Pei - like them
Sloughi - Again, an interesting dog.
Staffordshire Bull Terrier - love them
Thai Ridgeback - researched them at a time
Titán Bull-Doggé - Never heard of it.

The Dog Selector Results:
Labrador Retriever 100% - Good, cause I own one and have a mix of another!

After that it went downhill, with my next dog being a Golden at 84%.

Animal Planent results:
Boxer 99% - love them
Dalmation 99% - never cared for them
Pointer 99% - like them
Chessie Bay Retriever 98%- like them, but like Labs more
Gordon Setter 98% - never piqued my interest
Sussex Spaniel 98% - ditto
Vizsla 98%- more of my brother's cup of tea
Akita 97% - like them, but too animal aggressive for me

This was followed by lots of big hairy dogs that I would never own. Finally got a Lab at 96%. Bull Terrier at 95%...Great Dane, Mastiff, and Pharoah Hound (all breeds I love and hope to own) at 94%.

Re: Dog breed selector whats your results

For me, the Animal Planet one is by far the best...I've taken other ones and I don't know where they're getting their results from...but Animal Planet seems to get it.
My top 8:
Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever 100% (yes and I plan to own one someday)
Irish Setter 98% (I like English setters a bit better, but I would like to own one of the setters one day)
Brittany 97% (would be perfect except I won't get a docked tail dog)
Labrador Retriever 97% (not so into labs, but I understand why they would come up)
Field Spaniel 96% (docked tail)
English Springer Spaniel 95% (docked tail)
Flat Coated Retriever95% (sure, they fit the bill)
Golden Retriever 95% (yay! goldens!)

Basically, it just gave me a smattering of medium-large dogs from the sporting group, so of course it's pretty good lol.

Irish Setter 99% -- Nice! I love Irish Setters and would love one.

Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever 99% -- Don't know much about them, but seems like a good fit.

English Springer Spaniel 98% -- Already have one.

Re: Dog breed selector whats your results

I got really random results from these. Most were dogs that I'd never really want to own.

Animal Planet:
Otterhound - 98%
Soft Coated Wheaton Terrier - 98%
Bedlington Terrier - 97%
Tibetan Terrier - 97%
Westie - 97%
Affenpincher - 96%
Alaskan Malamute - 96% - MY FAVORITE BREED
American Cocker Spaniel - 96%

Animal Planet at least gave me Malamute in my top ten, which is my favorite breed and would love to own again one day. The rest... not so much! I'm really not a fan of Terriers in general, and not really a fan of Spaniels either. Both just have the wrong personality/looks that I would choose in a dog.

Dog Selector:
100 Bichon Frise
96 Golden Retriever
92 Yorkshire Terrier
90 Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
88 English Cocker Spaniel
87 English Toy Spaniel
87 Pomeranian
85 Tibetan Terrier
83 Cocker Spaniel
83 Havanese

Ok, so I got a Pom on this one! The rest aren't really breeds I'd be interested in though.

Dog Breed Info:
Ummm... they gave me like 200 results. Not even worth looking into and posting, it hardly narrowed anything down.

Animal Planet

100%
Novia Scotia Duck Tolling retriever.....are these dogs for everyone or something?

98%
Havanese- no nothing about them but theyre cute!
Papillon- love love love love them- they are my favorite small breed
Toy fox terrier- pretty cute but they seem a little too hyper

97%
Brittany- have always been intriqued by these dogs
Field spaniel- umm okay?
Bichon- just dont care for them much.

96%
Cavillier King Charles Spaniel- YAY! My second favorite small breed!

blah blah blah etc etc etc

It finally gave me Beagle at 93% which IMO is still good. I'm pretty sure every choice I picked described a beagle to a T, but oh well! Oh yeah and GSD wasn't on there because I selected not protective. I like playful more than protective, and I knew if I selected protective, I'd get dobies and gsd's and such..

lol @ all the people who are getting their current dog in their top 3 suggestions (I got that too btw). I think its kind of bias to take this questionnaire when you already own and love a dog and would never be honest to yourself by answering truthfully to some of the questions asked

Here's Mine:

Reynose_k9s I’m glad to see you got your favs at the top.

Lovemygreys It seemed to work well for you too! I would prefer the Pharaoh hound myself.

MuttHunter Wow then it worked really well for you. I wonder what I answer that gives the results I get sometimes. I know its based on what the creator thinks but sometimes I wonder how my answers equal said breed.

Shaina if you click at the dog of the dog breed selector you don’t have to give your email or any of that. I was getting upset too until I saw where it said view my results now. Or you could just scroll down because the results were at the bottom of the same page I think.

So you would do the Belgian Tervuren but not the Belgian Sheepdog/Groenendael. Is it the black color that puts you off. I think the Tervuren and Groenendael have similar temperament and of course coat type. Out of the variety of Belgians my favorite is the Malinois because of the shorter coat and bit of different temperament. The Tervuren and Groenendael and just too fluffy for me and the Laekenois not fond of that coat type.

To me they are almost identical in many ways.

But I suppose its in the eye of the beholder.

Glad you got at least some of yours. Dogbreedinfo has worked the best for me.

Muki you must have done something right.

Inverselogic That is interesting that Malamutes would not even make it on the list

Blackrose we got some similar results. I also got some hybrids too, weird because I said none. You should probably take the time to results Alano Espanol considering you seem to like Dog Argentino and American Pit Bull Terriers. I think that Titan Bull-Dogge is also a hybrid!

FriendsofZoe
looks like yours was spot on.

Sw_df
How close were yours for what you’d want. I’m guessing AST would be close.

Trixie yours worked good its and seems and you got a breed in your top 3 that you actually have

Rough Collies it is interesting how different that last test was, like total 180!

Chicster that is how I feel sometimes with the results.

4dogs3cats so you only really got a few results that would match?
