Talking Funny Holiday dog stories

I'd love to hear holiday stories involving dogs. What funny story would you like to share?

What called this to mind is that one year I was decorating our tree that we had inside an x-pen to keep dogs from getting into the ornaments, or leaving unplanned presents under the tree. I had a foster dachshund that was a black/tan longhair. His name was Cupid, and he fit his name because his prior home seemed to do their best to keep him as roly-poly as possible.

I was reaching under the tree for the light switch, and the dogs were on the other side of the x-pen looking in. Suddenly the tree began to tip, and started falling towards the dogs. Everyone but Cupid had the sense to scatter.

I jumped up, grabbed the tree, and uprighted it again. Thank goodness the x-pen had stopped it from actually falling on the dogs, but when I had it standing again, there was Cupid, looking up at me from the clutter of ornaments, grinning and wagging, with a single imitation icicle waving from the end of his tail. I think he was happy that he was decorated.

That's cute - maybe Cupid hoped there would be food on the tree!

We have those stuffed Christmas characters that sing (way too loudly by the way) and my kids love them. They are ALWAYS on along with one son singing, the other babbling, and my puppy howling. He never howls except when those things are on. He sits right next to the kids and howls away. It's really cute. Even better, is that he's learned to press the large button on Frosty with his nose. So he turns it on, starts howling, and the kids come in quickly to join him. All this really makes the constant noise worth while. Well, sort of.
