he barked then cried

so buddy's been limping most of the day. wont jump on the furniture and fell trying to jump on the bed earlier. he's laying on the floor in some dirty towels, and there was a knocking sound on the tv, and he tried to sit up and bark at it. he started to bark then ended up crying like it hurt. i don't even know what's wrong with him! i'm crying over here it's been such an awful day and now i have no idea what's wrong with him. nothing's broken, nothing's bleeding, but it hurts to bark? could it maybe be a pulled muscle? it's too late for a vet appointment. i don't know if this is an appropriate post of not. i know you're not suppose to post about emergency situations. but it's not really an emergency. i just don't know what to do.

Re: he barked then cried

Some of these symptoms are similar to when my springer mix herniated a disc in his back. He would not come on the couch or the bed, and moving hurt (at first, and then as the disc got worse he gradually became paralyzed from the mid-back down).

Can you crate him for the night and get him to the vet in the morning? Is he eating and pottying normally?

I suggest a vet trip immediately. It may just be a pulled muscle, but think about how bad you would feel if it turned out to be something much worse and you didn't take him right away. I would go to the emergency vet asap.

I think I would have to go the emergency vet for exactly the reason Noah just stated. It sounds like a pulled/twisted muscle, but it would be awful if it WEREN'T. Shelling out the big bucks for an emergency visit sucks (especially on the kind of day you're already having), but you might rest easier tonight if you knew what was wrong with Buddy.
