? about Husky's summer coat.

I noticed my Husky has been blowing his coat for the past few weeks. He has a couple of rough patches on his back legs ... but other than that, I noticed he looks different. I mean his fur is short. He doesn't look "fluffy" like he did 2 weeks ago. I'm curious if this is the way Husky's wear their coat in the summer. My Samoyed just loss the thickness but still remaind fluffy.

I hope it isn't a nutrition deficiency. Anyway, if there's a kind Husky owner who can tell me this is normal, I would appreciate it.

Each Husky is different. Some are fluffy and some are not.

Yep! Kobe is thin during summer, fluffy during winter.

Re: ? about Husky's summer coat.

There's been a few Huskies 'round the forum lately. How old is he? It could just be the difference of a more mature coat. I got Sioux (Malamute) when he was 10 months and the first coat blow made a drastic difference in his appearance/feel.

Of course you know him best, so if it doesn't seem right see the vet.

Re: ? about Husky's summer coat.

I've had him for about 4 months now. Rescued him from a shelter. He's about 3 years old according to the surrender papers and the vet guesses it is more than likely accurate due to his teeth.

He looks significantly different. I had to take a 2nd look this afternoon, though, his smile is a big giveaway.

Thanks for the info. I can't get enough of him

Well, probably just seasonal then. My guys (and gal) have a firm but smooth coat in the summer, and they are poofballs in the winter. The back legs are always the worst for me. I get one all brushed and spend a few days just picking at it while watching tv.
