Today,i quickly went into Winn-Dixie to get some milk!.
Left my daughter,in the car with my golden,Priska in it(window a 1/4 open!.Someone sees her,ask my daughter if they could pat her and she says no(rule,I taught her and she follows to the tee).The woman,still, put her hand in the window and Priska makes a low growl without lunging but loud enough to pass the message!.
Comment of the woman:"I didn't know a golden could growl!!".
Well,DUH,who is stupid enough to put their hand in a car,to pat a dog,they don't know!.

What people don't understand is that a dog can become much stronger and protective in a small enclosed area. The flight or fight attitude turns on and since there is not much flight room, guess what's left. Now add the fact your daughter was in car with her. I'm going to assume your Golden is absolutely enamored with daughter. I hope you went back into Winn-Dixie and purchased a prime piece of meat for your Golden and let her have a big reward. With the weirdos out in the world now A growling dog is a very pleasant animal to have around.

I'm sorry folks, I've told this story before. I'll make is short. A friend of mine KNEW not to hand feed my dog. I told her just 4 days earlier. So she came over (ON OUR PROPERTY) and put her hand out her car window to hand him a french fry and he bit the tip of her finger. She sued us and our insurance company paid out a huge sum of money. She even said how stupid she was for doing that. But in the end people can be stupid and still, the law is on their side. Like Forrest Gump's mother always told him, "Stupid is as stupid does".

To the OP: Thank God your dog was a gentleman and just warned her.

I personally don't think it's too wise to leave your child in a parked car. I know it's against the law in many states if they're under 6, Florida included.

The law stands if they're over 6 and the car is running. So many children die here every year because of the temperature rising so quickly, not to mention the numbers of dogs that die in parked vehicles.
I understand that you were just running in quickly- but that's what many mothers say when something happens. Someone could have easily snatched up your child in a heartbeat. Look how fast you were yesterday and she had already had one encounter with a stranger talking to her and sticking her hand in the window by the time you got back.

Had one here in the neighborhood....had to "investigate" something where the dogs got excited.... got skunked sometimes justice and stupid punishment is wonderfully short and swift

What annoys me,is that she didn't listened to my daughter!.When She hastily pulled her hand,my cheeky daugher said:"I TOLD YOU NOT TO DO IT!!"
A golden is a dog and even though she's never growled or showed to be possessive,she is still a dog!.

And I totally agree with you on the 'friendly' aspect...they are still dogs...My girl is a wonderfuly dog, but she will bark at 'weird people' who think they have to venture too close to my car...that is, if she is awake...Lol!

She was your FRIEND and she SUED you????? For a nip on the finger??? And she admitted she was dumb to do this???? Oh wow that just gets me. I have a very close friend and my old dog bit her son's face - pretty badly - there is still a scar.....and we never got sued. Obviously she wasn't thrilled about it but we god rid of the dog because of it. (Which I hated to do but had to). Anyway, wow I just can't imagine suing a friend.
