| Its impossible to enjoy summer weather with dogs!! Does anyone else find that good weather brings way too much hassle with it when you have dogs.
This morning when i went out there was already people EVERYWHERE granted my dogs are on a leash the dirty looks im getting are off the ricter scale!!
I walk past parents,dirty looks
I walk past cyclists, dirty looks even a snide comment here and there.
I walk past joggers, dirty looks of disgust?
God didnt make me well enough to handle this S***!
So i get to the dogpark and to top it off there are new dogs everywhere off leash and crazy.
I ended up going back home and putting the dogs in the garden to chill and do thier thing.
This evening i go back out and there are groups of teenagers everywhere still, barking at my dogs, smashing glass and to top it off some of them have offleash dogs too,if the owners are anything to go by the dogs cant be controlled.
I like sunshine but to be honest give me winter anytime, less people and way less hassle! |

They're out now with the good weather but haven't seen that you are out year round doing what's right for your dogs. I couldn't take being in a large city with all those people. Pray for rain to get those idiots back inside! |

The best fun is to be had between 4am to 8am and 7pm to 11pm! |

I can deal with the passers by and the looks but its the idiots that try to wind the dogs up by barking.
Sometimes i feel like just unleashing them and clearing my path
ETA;lol i just looked it up too,it is a good word and a good thing to be.

| Re: Its impossible to enjoy summer weather with dogs!! The worst I have to deal with at night is the kids, but usually when I'm out at that time, I'm running fast enough with two big dogs that people don't think they can outrun me if they piss me off.
Worst I had happen was a 15-16 year old kid that flicked a lit cigarette into me. He tried to run right after but when I grabbed him he confessed like a baby that it wasn't on purpose. I asked him why he ran, then? And he said that he was scared.
So I let him go. Other than that people generally steer a path clear for me.
I'm liking your idea of having your dogs open the path like moses and the red sea. That would be pretty awesome.
Or get a bunch of Border Collies and have them herd everyone around. |

I know what you mean about people winding the dogs up Dom. I have a neighbors that like to bark at the dogs when they're out in the yard. Of course it gets the dogs going then they yell at the dogs to shut up... Well, they always seem to forget that I'm out there with the dogs every time. Soooooo, I always remind them that if they really want the dogs to come and 'play' with them, I would be more than happy to oblige... shuts them up every time...
The best time of day to enjoy the weather with your dogs is early morning.
The other option is to buy an island... I'll go halves with ya!!!! |

| Re: Its impossible to enjoy summer weather with dogs!! LMAO,yeah i often ponder the thought Rbark.
A couple of weeks ago i took the dogs around the basin(a large man made lake that used to be docks) and i was on one side and a bunch of 20 something yearolds on the other.
They started doing the "woof" s*** so Aslan showed them what "WOOF" should sound like.
They were drunk and one of shouted out he was gona slit my dogs throat?
I walked around calmly(picking up a brick on the way) and needless to say by the time i was close they were gone.
I dont get some people.
ETA:K,im taking you up on the offer.lol |

| Re: Its impossible to enjoy summer weather with dogs!! I feel you Dom...I hate it too. Luckily we have a yard now, so Zoe can stay out in the yard most of the day and in the evening/night we take a nice walk down the back roads. But the parks the streets everything is just filled with obnoxious people and dogs once the weather gets nice. I feel like it's "my city" since I was out there even at 10 below and during blizzards, but they all cramp my style in the summer...
I'm ready for winter again too. |

| Re: Its impossible to enjoy summer weather with dogs!! I feel lucky to live in a quiet neighborhood and I walk Snoopy while the adults are still at work, so I dodge most people. I still have to deal with the occasional teenager or adult hanging around outside sucking up welfare and section housing. |

To tell ya the truth the welfare people are normally the ones that are ok "nicedog","what breed","u got spare change" that type of talk.
I tend not to judge people by what situation they are in.
Its either teenagers who got dragged up,drunks or snobs who think my dogs gona eat thier kid at any given moment.

| Re: Its impossible to enjoy summer weather with dogs!! Yes, I know not all people on welfare are rude, but the ones in my neighborhoods like to speak their mind. For example, Snoopy was rolling around on city property grass on our walk and a lady sitting outside yelled across the street to "pick up that mutts poop" to which I responded "my dog is a purebreed and he isn't pooping, he is rolling around in the grass". I've gotten that response to, kids will jump back and scream occasionally and the parents will grab them and walk the other way while giving me a dirty look. |

| Re: Its impossible to enjoy summer weather with dogs!! I agree, the hot weather makes having a dog a pain in the butt sometimes. Can't bring the dog in the car for a hike or anything if we plan on stopping at a store or somewhere dogs can't go for more than 5 minutes. Can't bring the dog to any provincial parks or beaches even if leashed (WHICH I THINK IS A TOTALLY UNFAIR RULE!!). If we're on vacation, we have to plan the entire trip around the dog unless we leave him with our relatives, otherwise you can't leave them in a hotel or at a campground and can't leave them in the car and can't take them with you many places.... |

| Re: Its impossible to enjoy summer weather with dogs!! Ya know, nobody bothers me when I'm out walking Smokey for some reason? Maybe it's because he's as big as I am
I took him to Petco with me the other day...I got a dirty look from one person (as I'm being beaten to death with my dogs wagging tail) and then she let her small child pet him and all was merry with the world. Sometimes a kind word and a BIG dog (or gun as Al Capone put it) goes further than just a kind word. |

| Re: Its impossible to enjoy summer weather with dogs!! Same thing in my neighbourhood today - a bunch of off leash dogs with owners too busy enjoying the nice weather to notice what their dogs were doing. There was one off-leash dog that I'd never even seen before that followed us down the driveway and got into it with Taz. Poor guy - that's like 3 times in the last 2 weeks he's been jumped while on-leash, minding his own business.
At least at -30C we have the road aaaalll to ourselves. |
