is she on the porch too long?

We have a 12 wk old husky, we DO live in an apartment, but she gets at LEAST 2 walks a day, at LEAST 2 hours of play, and we take her to my parents often so she can run around, but when she is at home, for the most part she just wants to be on the porch. She'll stay out there for hours! All of my dogs in the past have always enjoyed staying around us a lot more and in the house. Having her on the porch so much makes me feel like a bad mom Should I bring her in more with me, or let her do her own thing? (our porch is about 8x11)

Do you leave the door open so she can come in and out as she pleases if she gets too hot or cold or needs a drink or whatever? If so, and she still prefers to lounge around outside than be inside, I don't see anything wrong with it, as long as she is safe and happy. I have a large deck and will open the french doors when the weather is nice and Cooper will lay out there for hours.

Huskies tend to be aloof and independent so they don't stick by you often. Both my dogs spend a lot of time outside too.

You could get a doggie door so she can come and go. They even make doggie door inserts for sliding glass doors.

My husky mix spends a good amount of time hanging out outdoors, too. I think as long as it's the dog's preference, you aren't being a bad caregiver, in fact you are doing the opposite. You are meeting her needs.

I have a britney mix and he is the same way, after his walk in the morning he will go on the deck and just hang out for hours.Don't take it personally, some dogs just love the fresh air.
