Wire Fox Terrier! Anyone here own one?

Hello,

I currently own a Welsh terrier but have been debating a 2nd dog and have decided to get either a Lakeland or Wire Fox Terrier. I've heard that a Wire Fox Terrier is not good with other pets but then I ran across a few people that have said that if properly socialized they are no problem. Does anyone here own this type breed that can speak up? As you can tell I am a terrier fan!

Many Thanks,
Brandon

I don't own a Wire Fox Terrier, but i wanted to say that you would probably do better if you looked a specific dog rather than a breed... If Wire Fox Terriers, as a breed, are good with other pets, that's great, however that does not mean that any one specific Wire Fox Terrier is going to do well with your dog.

You probably already know this and if so, I apologize, but thought I'd share as my girlfriend's mother spent a ton of time and money researching and bought herself a labradoodle only to find that he's a holy terror!

Good luck to you.
Sid

Re: Wire Fox Terrier! Anyone here own one?

Yeah, my problem is that there are only certain breeds that I would own and small to medium terriers (wire coats) fit that bill. Most of the people I speak to down terriers saying that they are hyper un-trainable destructive dogs. As a matter of fact, reading most forums such as this one and the ratio of terrier talk as related to other breeds is uneven. I'm guessing that many people don't fancy the terrier as I do. I love my Welsh Terrier as he's energetic, smart, cute as can be and is non shedding. He's the perfect size but I swear he has ADD! :-)

I think most of the dog problems encountered come from undisciplined dogs that are left to themselves and not corrected. I would hope that I would have some options of picking a Wire Fox with a good disposition. The Wire Fox and Welsh seem to be close to each other in size but I was fishing around to see if anyone here by chance owned one.
