| Re: Oinest is like Mr. Ed Who the hell is Mr. Ed?
I'd rather have a cute dog-like dog than a human-like dog.
I have never taken Sadie out in public and had less than 3 people stop to talk to me about her. She must be super special! Wow. Obviously she is the cutest most adorable dog ever because of this. Oh, and my husband is the most handsome man in the world, and according to my mother I am the smartest woman alive.
I have to agree with several posters
- Get him a harness
- Humans don't sit with balls in their mouth in the car (No jokes, we're all mature here)
One of the unique things about dogs that I see is they have eyebrows which make them very expressive. (I'm sure other animals do but it's very obvious in dogs.)
ALL dogs look very human compared to other animals when they move their eyebrows and make expressions. It's very cool. |

what you are missing:
what if he really is like Mr. Ed, as i claim?
(minus the vocalization)
or that there might be other Mr. Eds out there?
and they might be different than other pooches.
consider the possibility.
it might have something to do with the fact, that when i researched breeds and info on raising dogs, i was consciously looking to maximize this effect.
plus, i think i got lucky.
since i am always getting comments from others about this unique trait of his, i don't consider myself to be too delusional. | Consider the possibility that you might have the Mr. Ed version of dogs?
Uh, if other poodle owners comment on this "special characteristic" in many poodles, that would make Oinest... Standard for a poodle.
I am not trying to put your dog down, but what you say is beyond me. I've met poodles, I've met labradoodles, goldendoodles, grew up with labs. All of them unique in their own way, but nothing that I found unusual.
I often get comments about Kobe that he seems as though he is contemplating the meaning of life, the universe, and everything. Other dogs tend to look up to him and follow him around. I've heard people compare him to Gandhi... I never found these comments out of the ordinary.
I can easily explain why they seem to think so, and it is part of why I love him. Evidently unlike you, I can post pictures and videos of him in his "Gandhi" or "human" moments and have people agree that he seems like that.
But the key word is "seems". I know what he is really doing. 99% of people don't because they have no understanding of dogs, and less understanding of other people's dogs.
So I suppose, by your standards, Oinest is a human, and Kobe is Gandhi. Fascinating, my dog is special-er (rollseyes).
On a related note.. Ollie, on the other hand, has been compared to a viking barbarian or the men from 300. Quite amusing, if you ask me. |

| Re: Oinest is like Mr. Ed Well, of course, Mr. Ed wasn't really like that, it was a combination of training and special effects.
But maybe your dog really is special. I hope you put it to good use. Maybe he would be a great therapy dog, since he relates to people so well. He could bring a lot of joy to peoples' lives. |

i do think there might be something to this poodle thing...poodle lovers talk more about a sense of humor than do other breed lovers.
also, i KNOW he is very much a dog.
the way that i have been able to bring out his emotional depth, is the effort i have expended in being sure he has full opportunity to express his doggy side.
he runs free at the beach and woods...he has many opportunities to play with other dogs, and to develop a "best" dog friend.
people usually misunderstand me when i say i treat him with the respect of a human.
it means that i treat him with dignity...and respect his doggie needs...not that i assume he has the same needs as a human.
but we do share many needs.
affection, a sense of belonging, and (i believe) a sense of being equal in importance to the others in the house (even if he has somewhat of a child's spot in the heirarchy).
i think this all brings out a deeper level in his personality. | I repeat, my dog is exactly the same way. He is allowed is full dog-dom off leash every day and has tremendous manners in the house. He is respected the same way my children are respected. You don't get how over-the-top you sound about your dog. Why do you keep asking people to understand how more "special" your Oinest is? It is ridiculous to me. I have a dog that is equally as special. Get over it already. |

| Re: Oinest is like Mr. Ed Dog-manIthink it might be your examples that are confusing people. I mean quite a few dogs sit in the care with a human like expression. I don't really see how that makes your dog Mr. Ed.
My mother's lab/chow mix is aggressive to other people and dogs. Yet he sits in the front sit of her mercades and knows how to roll the windows down. He is a great dog, but far from Mr Ed. |

Then I start reading everyone's freakin posts and my smile is gone and all I can say is "dog-man can't win no matter what he writes". Are we really going to sit here and compare how much better OUR dogs are????? Come on people cut the guy a little slack already. No matter what he types you all jump on him and criticize him.
Oinest looks adorable sitting there. I am one of those people that love to see dogs sitting in cars like that. I would have been one of those people to tell you what a character he looks like.
Sorry for my rant above everyone but I am getting so annoyed with all the negativity. |

| Re: Oinest is like Mr. Ed Well I didn't get that impression at all. We all come here to divulge in our passion for our dogs. I don't care what this guys' post says...everyone would find fault with it no matter what. It's become a running joke in here to hate dog-man I think. I am truly disgusted that someone can't come in here and brag about how great they think they're dog is. Guaranteed if I or someone else wrote it....all the replies would have gone something like this....."GREAT! You have a great dog!" |

I do believe there would be a way to post what he did without coming across the way he does. It's clear he has limited internet social skills or he really gets a kick out of pushing people's buttons. |

| Re: Oinest is like Mr. Ed Yep its the tone of his post that makes me want to mock. I hear stories all day from everyone else about what their dogs have accomplished and it makes me happy. I hear stories of people who get compliments on their dogs behavior and congratulate them.
The tone of his post is just begging for this reaction, if you ask me. |

But you are a nice person who can talk to others without being condesending. As such, I would never dream of making a condesending reply to you.
That's the difference. |

Sorry for my rant above everyone but I am getting so annoyed with all the negativity. | I couldn't agree more. The bitterness of many of the posters in this thread is palpable. What delightful people they must be in person... Judging by some of the post counts it doesn't look like they get out much. |

That's the difference. | I am not having the greatest day so maybe I am jumping all over everyone when I shouldn't be. Sometimes I prefer to side with the underdog for some reason and defend him/ her. It's my nature I think.
Ok carry on everyone - I need to get off my computer because it's about 70 out and sunny! |

I suggest you read dog-man's old posts. You make it sound as though he is an innocent sheep that got attacked by hungry wolves.
He's a troll wearing sheep clothing, that's all it is. by getting you and Ella to react as you did, his bait is successful. |

My post count is rather high...it's probably the highest, but I do recall calling dog-man's love for his dog unique. But in my world that's ordinary. How about yours? |

If I am out of line or disrespectful, I would hope people would react like we are towards dog-man. |
