| Female. She's a rescue, so there's no real way to tell her age.
I'm assuming she's going to be 2 in January |

| I don't have a Pittie, but I love them! I'm looking into adopting one once I get out of school for the year. I'd love to participate in weight pulling or agility. And if the dog has the mind for it, also obedience! |

| Yea it turned out the stray that showed up at my house was a pit bull(which is a breed i have always been cautious of). But i am having to put him down come tomorrow because of a bad case of heartworms that i cant afford to treat. But i just cant believe the character of this dog he has really shown me that pit bulls are highly misunderstood. Maybe adopting a young pit will help with the loss of this one. After only a week it seems like he should be around always. This is going to be hard |

| If you had to put this dog TO SLEEP because you COULDN'T afford it...then PLEASE DO NOT get another dog.
Again, I'm only thinking for the welfare of the dog
I'm sorry to hear about the dog |

| isn't there anything you can do to save this dog? It just seem's to me that if an animal becomes to costly, then they are put down. They deserve life same as any human. When i hear things like this, i'm not joking, i can't sleep for nights. |

| Dulce no offense but you don't know what the hell your talking about bud. How many stray dogs have you helped? my current dog is a puppy i found on the side of the road and i have had for 2 years now. The dog i am refering to is a stray that someone dropped off beside my house and me and my family showed love. Ive spent $300 trying to get him healthy and now finding out it is going to cost over $1000 to cure him is killing me. I have a wife and a daughter and 3 rescue pets i am taking care of. Believe me buddy if i could afford it he and every other stray i see would be healthy, I dont know maybe you are wealthy enough to do that, if you care so much contact me and i can find some animals that need your help. Dont ever try to tell me or anyone else whether or not they should try to adopt or help an animal. I guess your saying i should of left him outside cuddling trash in the 20 degree freezing cold? with the mange and parasites eating him alive? If this was a pet that i went up and adopted myself and it was the same situation then i would pawn some of my tools that i need for work if i had to to save him, because its my responsibility. But as for all the strays i see every week i do what i can then i have to move on if it doesnt work out. |

| JDman... I think you are a good person with a caring heart to have picked up this poor dog. Its true, we can't all take in the strays we find...or we'd all have private zoos by now...I also find strays all the time...its almost like it was meant to be for me to try and help them out when nobody else seems to care. But I can't keep them either. I have two dogs of my own and am a student...I can't afford more animals or take care of all the strays that I come across.
In difficult cases like this I would think euthanasia is the friendliest way..better than having the poor dog suffer like this. The other option is to surrender the dog to a humane society...but whether or not they will even bother giving the dog care is questionable. Most of the time in heart worm cases, the dog is euthanized.
Its a very difficult situation..a very sad one to be in..but you did your best..and you ensured that this dog didn't spend the rest of its time on the streets somewhere..hungry, cold...
For what it's worth..thank you for caring |

| Ok, one, I'm not a BUD.
And YES I've taken in stray dogs. Get off your high horse.
I really wasn't trying to be rude, I'm concerned for the dog. What i read was that you wanted to get ANOTHER dog after putting one to sleep because you couldn't afford it. And that's what I responded to.
I'm sorry if you were offened. |

| Thanks pitbull, I'm glad you see where i am coming from, but when it came down to it i couldnt go through with it just yet. After some phone calls i found a good shelter that will care for him even after hearing about his condition for atleast a week, meanwhile ill be searching myself. Maybe something good will happen for him. Dulce "Get off my high horse" ? not even going to respond to that. You and me both are concerned about the dog "bud". He's the reason i found this forum, and posted for advice. I'm glad i found it just that little extra opinion can make the differance in someones decisions so i thank you guys. |

| Well, you've most likey already noticed this... Well wheather or not some people do or don't take care of strays is completely out of the owners interests. But anyway, it is important that you may want to think about expenses for a dog before getting another one. I am so sorry to hear about your 1st pit, that's really hard to cope with most the time. But think about your next dog: when is the right time to get one, do you want it already spayed or nutered so you wont have to pay for it yourself, what age, and what it'll cost for vaccinations and shots if they haven't already recieved them. You have probabley already thought about it, but i just wanted to say something before it was to late. But I hope that you do find the dog that you are looking for, and will have a happy life with your new compainion. Emma |

To "get off your high horse" is to stop being so cocky and over confident. Just to let you know. Sorry if this seems to be to sarcastic there "bud". Emma |

| I have never owned a pit bull but i love and respect the breed. It's such a shame that they get such a bad rap.If people would just take the time and effort to learn more about this breed rather than reley on what they heard in the press maybe they would feel the same way. |

It is to bad that the past of this remarcable breed has stained the good name of such a great dog. |
