| Sadie, our lab pup, is left at home while we are at school. My dad works except for mondays, and my mom works while we are at school...so Sadie is in her crate from 7:30-12:30, and then agian from around 1:00-3:30. Other than that, she goes everywhere with us. |

| My boyfriend and I both work full time, but we work different schedules.
He works 7:00am - 4:00pm Monday through Friday.
I usually work 11:00-7:30 Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.
This means that Pedro has somebody home for four days out of the week, all day.
But for the three days that we both work, he is home alone for about 6 hours.
He is crate trained - but he has his crate in the living room with the door always open - he has free range of my house |

| Thanks to those of you who voted. I am somewhat surprised by the results so far. I would have thought more people had to leave their dog alone for longer periods of time given that so many people have a household in which the adults are at work all day, and the kids are at school. |

| Stella goes to work with me and will usually end up running most errands with me (weather permitting). I rarely leave her at home for more than a short period of time, with the exception of going out in the evening, etc. Most days, she is never at home by herself.
My roommate's dog, however, hangs out by himself from about 7 or 7:30 until one of us gets home in the afternoon/evening...usually between 4 and 5. He also goes to daycare at least one day a week. If he were a better barn dog, I'd take him with Stella and I, but he's a bit on the needy, overly dependent side when it comes to his humans...there's a high trip factor with him. |

| Re: How long is your dog left home alone? About 5 to 7 hours. She's in her cage though, because we didn't trust her anymore in the house because she chewed something very, very, very, expensive. So she spends this time in her cage. |

| Re: How long is your dog left home alone? Well...this is a very old thread...
Anyway, as of right now the dogs are left at home about four hours per day. Starting in late August it will be more like seven-eight hours depending on the day. Not bad, but I would like to be able to spend ALL of my time with my furkids! |

| Re: How long is your dog left home alone? I have only left Ella once for 3hrs. in her crate when I had to run errands and it was just too hot for her to come along for the ride. It's summer so both my boys are out of school so someone is almost always home and three dys./wk when I work she goes to daycare. Starting this fall when the boys go back to school I imagine she'll have to be crated on occasion for me to run errands etc. |

| Re: How long is your dog left home alone? About 8-9 hours for mine. I HATE leaving him alone...I tell him all the time I wish I had a job that allowed me to work from home and I remind him it's because I have to work that I leave him.
This is how he looks at me before I go to work...he's just saying, "Awwww, dad, do you have to go to work???" He makes me want to call in sick! |

| Re: How long is your dog left home alone? Between 6-9 hours M-F, with my daughter stopping in to let them out before I get home. I work midnight-8:00am, leave for work at 11:30pm, usually get home by 8:30am, but, when there are IFPs to drop off at the Court House, I'm home by 7:15am. My daughter stops by around 7:00am to let the dogs out in case they need to go. She reports that they open an eyelid, blink, then stretch, yawn, and go back to sleep. |

| Re: How long is your dog left home alone? usually no more than 3 hours here. fortunately sammi is very well behaved, so we can leave her in a room where she has more mobility than a simple cage |

| Re: How long is your dog left home alone? Usually, Thunder gets left alone from around 12:30 in the afternoon, when my wife leaves until I get home at around 5:30 in the evening. I don't like leaving him alone, because he gets bored and lonely and proceeds to chew the stairs.

| Re: How long is your dog left home alone? An old thread, but nonetheless, during the school year Jenny is home alone in her crate for 7 hours. During the summer she is rarely alone. |
