Name Ideas

Well I am getting a new puppy in summer 2007. Well, the mother is planned to be bred in 6 months, so we'll see exactly when they are ready. I am getting third pick on a show puppy. English Springer Spaniel. So I have no idea yet if I'm getting a boy or girl. But to contain my excitement I've started coming up with names.

For girls I really like the call name Water Lily or Amaya. But what show name would go with that?

I really like the show name Kennel Name's Paw's For Applause but what call name could go with that? Boy or girl... I'm thinking for a boy Paulie.

I'm really no good at this naming stuff though lol. My girl Jasmine is Jasmine Wheres Your Backbone because when she was born she had a bone shaped marking in the middle of her back. It disappeared by the time she was about 12 weeks old, so we asked her where is your backbone?? And my boy Riley is just.... Riley Star.

So any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

i know what you mean on picking names....i had a GSD that i registered as SuJo's Let's Get Sirius (SuJo was mine and my husbands name together, Sirius is the major Dog Star, and the name fit as he was 125 lbs w/ 7/8" canines )......you could use the Water Lily and just call her Lily for short (or use the scientific name for the water lily).....i like going back to their roots and naming them names in the language of the country they originated at (mine, now, are Scottish/English background so i go w/ the Gaelic names)

but when the time comes and you see the pup the name will probably come to you just from their personality

Springer, my dogs' call names have little to nothing to do with their full names.
You don't even need to shorten the full name for a call name, unless that's just something you prefer.
I like the name Amaya, and you might be able to do a play on words with it. Amaya kind of sounds like "Am I..." so maybe start with the Amaya part, something like "Amaya Gonna Win" (Am I Gonna Win, or just the name, Gonna Win) or similar. I always have a hard time picking names too, but eventually, the puppy does it for me, though you have quite a while to go!

Ibiz ~ I love that idea! Will jot that down.

I thought of names before I got both my current springers. (call names). When they came home it took me months to decide on 'show' names. My first ended up just being a first and middle name lol.
