Exclamation Cat & Dogs Playing, or is the cat being mean?

We have several Standard Poodles, and a cat that I rescued last winter. I'm not a cat person, so I know just barely enough to keep the cat healthy. I'm more of a dog person. Here's my question:
My step-daughter's cat will lay in wait quietly until one of my poodles fall asleep, and then he comes racing into the room & pounces on their heads & starts biting them. Is he playing with them, or is he trying to torment them? My dogs ignore it for the most part, unless he bites them too hard. If that happens, they chase him out of the room.

I need advice on this, because I'm not a cat person, so I really don't know much about cat behaviors.

You got a playful kitty there mate. If you want him to stop pouncing the dog buy him some toys like a rubber mouse. You could also seperate them or use the leave him or her command. It sounds like play though so I wouldnt worry.

I'm a cat person & very newly a dog person. Its playful. If they were growling or hissing and being aggressive about it you would know it. My cats and little puppy wrestle all the time. Its monitored though b/c accidents do happen, I separate them when they get too hyper. Cats can be trained, although not as easy as a dog, but you can shoo them away and then reward with a treat.
