| Does Anyone Else Here Love Mutts? I love mutts! No purebred can match up to the love and companionship of a mutt! Of course... that's just my opinion. |

| Very true! To me, it doesn't matter if you have a AKC purebred, mutt, purebred, or a shelter dog they are all the same. My dog Lilly is a Golden Retriever-Labrador Retriever mix. She looks like a purebred though, but that doesn't matter. So I totally agree with you |

| I love mutts too. I've only owned mutts - all adult rescues - except for my current (and first) puppy. They've all been wonderful.
I'm curious though - why did you post this under "other pets" |

| Hehe Well... "Other Pets"... hmmm... I don't know! I guess because it's "Another pet"! Because you have horses, purbreds... and mutts!
I hadn't noticed that before. |

| I totally agree!! I have always had mutts! I've adopted dogs from shelters, and picked up strays. And they are the best! It seems like they know that you have saved them! The same way with cats. Good for you for asking!! |

| I love mutts - have a collie/hound mix right now that I got from our local HS a year ago. I love all dogs, whether they are purebred or not - and of course I love my newfs, even though they are purebred. |

| Mutts are great, but it's not about the fact that it's a mix or not that should determine it's affection towards your, trainability, and personality. That all plays in with training, stability, and affection.
Personally I prefer purebreds, I don't think there's anything better than enjoying a breed's unique essance and watch him or her do what she's been bred to do for hundreds of years.
But that's just me :P |

| I love all dogs. I don't much care what breed that are. Whether they are "mutts" or pure breeds, they all deserve loving homes |

| We've always had mostly mutts. The purebreds were nice, but we really enjoyed the strange traits of our strange dogs. The really crappy thing about mutts is that when they cross the rainbow bridge, it's impossible to find another dog even remotely like the last.
We accidentally found RR's and they are technically mixes, even the purebreds. Two purebred Ridgebacks can look exactly same and have completely different genetic make-ups.
We are so in love with the guarding capabilities and reasoning skills that our top dog will always be an RR, either purebred or mix makes no difference. Now for exercise we've got the husky. Her only function is to serve as my trainer as we work together. She is a purebred and unless a specialized husky mix came from Alaska from Iditarod winning parents, I think we'll stick with purebreds in that arena. We'll always get adults from rescues though, I need them as an adult for running purposes. They are all happy to comply! |
