When I walk my dogs I usually carry a 'walking' stick for this reason; I refuse to bend over and seperate a dog who is going to attack mine, because I don't want to get bit myself (granted the owners would have to pay for it, but some owners are not responsible enough to take responsibility either way, as we all know). So I carry my walking stick, and if in the event that a dog were to come out and start causing trouble, I am not afraid to step between him and my dogs with my stick as the barrier; if he is going to bite someone, let him bite my stick instead... |
