Puppy with older dog

I have a four month old female pup(pointer, border collie mix)
Shes a total sweetheart. Love all dogs and people. My friend has a 2 year old female lab mix(around 50 lbs) When they are together my pup bites plays with her hard. Biting legs and face anything she can get a hold of. It can go on for hours. The problem is I think the older do really does not enjoy it all the time but wont snap or growl at the pup. They spend alot of time together. I am now taking care of the older dog for the next 7 days and don't want her to be miserable. On one hand I feel this is a dog dog issue and the older dog could stop it with a growl(other dogs stop her) Should I do anything? And what can I do to try to inhibit this behavior.
Any advice would be great
Mike

I havent had this problem with my dogs, since my older dogs usually put younger dogs in their place. However, with my servals I have had to vigorously train them not to bite me, or my dogs when playing. I'm sure it would work on dogs as well.

Always have a stuffed toy that your puppy enjoys playing with on hand. At playtime, this proves to be really useful. When you play with the puppy, don't let the toy out of your hand. And if it bites your hand, say No and let it bite the toy, and when it does, praise it. You don't really have to treat the dog at all, a "good dog" and a nice pet on the head and back usually work fine. Hopefully, it will get the idea, and you can do this when you see the puppy biting on the dog as well. Good luck with your mouthy baby.

I have a 2 year-old golden and a new, 3 1/2 month-old puppy, and I have benn having the same problem. I let them play like that because the golden was good at getting the puppy on her back, so I thought there was no problem with dominance. However, I began noticing that my golden was getting pretty chewed up around the neck, ears, etc., so I put a stop to it. I yell, "Enough!" when it gets out of control. However, I do not want them to stop playing with each other and enjoying each other's company, so I encourage them to chase each other around the yard and play tug of war with sticks, etc.
