Hello all, we have been out of town on vacation this week so I've missed alot around here. While we were in Florida we went to the dog track to watch the grey hound races. It has been a long time since I had been and I forgot how amazing the dogs are. They are beautiful animals and remarkable to watch race.

I have read horror stories about how the dogs are treated. Not to mention the fact that, after they are suitable for racing, they are usually killed or dumped in some shelter. That is why there are so many greyhound adoption organizations.

I could not support this horrid practice.

I don't want to debate the current practices of the dog racing industry because I really don't know and unless you are involved in it I doubt you do either. I do know that it has changed greatly over recent years and I hope it continues to do so. Like all things in this world there are those who have ethics and those who only look for profit. I did notice that at the track there were posters etc advertising grey hound adoption and other changes to improve the industry. Last time I went, almost 15 years ago, I don't remember there being anything. I am definately not knowledgeable about race dog breeding/training practices. I was just commenting on how amazing they are to watch.

Greyhounds are trully beautiful creatures. I don't think I've ever seen them in action though.

thay are butifaland so are the jack ruses at the 1 race i fore got what its called but yea eney dog at ful speed is butifal (unless its your dog running awaylol)

Just like everywhere, there are good kennels and bad. I LOVE to see greyhound racing, you are right they are amazing. It is wonderful to see any dog working at what he was born to do, beit it hearding guarding scent work or racing. We have a client who recently adopted 2 retired racers. They are the sweetest things!

Dog racing is interesting to see; however, my only concern is when thinking how harsh these dogs must be trained :\

I've never seen an actual dog race. I've heard a lot about greyhounds though.

I recommend it to anyone who is going to a place where they race. Even if you are not interested in gambling, just to watch the dogs is great.
