| Hello, adopted a new dog! Hello we adopted a dog a week ago from the local SPCA and we just brought him home today after his surgery. We're not sure what the dog's age is but the shelter workers estimated he would be 1-2 years, but weren't sure. It would be awesome if you guy could reply giving your opinion on his age.
Thanks a lot here are some pictures of him. Isn't he cute?
Thanks again

| Re: Hello, adopted a new dog! Thank you for saving this beautiful dog's life by adopting him! His teeth and gums look like a young dog and he looks young by his pics. It would be very difficult to pinpoint the actual age. Both of my dogs were adopted from shelters and my Rotties age was unknown, he was estimated to be 1 1/2 to 2yrs. If I had to guess, I would say yours looks 1 1/2.
What is his name? |

What is his name? | His name is Sheroo. Thanks for the reply . We might adopt another dog soon...I love the labs there...hard to decide on which dog to get...
Edit: What breed mix do you guys think it is?
I suspect it is a Pomeranian/terrier mix..but i'm not sure...he is EXTREMELY quiet. I havn't heard him bark once yet..just a little crying when in the car but thats it.
We're keeping him inside for 8 days because of his stitches.

| Re: Hello, adopted a new dog! We had a dog that looked very similar years ago, also from a shelter. We were told she was a cocker spaniel mix. Although pom went through my short list, if the dog is very quiet it may not have pom in it. Poms tend to be a yappier breed. We have a pom mix now in the house. When you have the dog checked out by your own vet, sooner the better, you can ask about the age again. The teeth are very clean though so unless someone was into daily brushing with the dog I'd say he's young. |

| Re: Hello, adopted a new dog! Breed-wise, I thought he looked a bit like a Long Haired Dachshund mix, maybe with Golden or Cocker or even Pom (or maybe all three!). Either way he is adorable. |

| Re: Hello, adopted a new dog! Thanks everyone for all your kind responses. We originally went to see a pomeranian/terrier mix and he was an active little fellow...barked a lot :-P we decided on getting Sheroo instead, it was a really hard decision.
Edit: Here are some more pictures

He was checked into the shelter on the 29th of June...maybe he had malnutrition, not sure though. I'm hoping his legs will grow a bit so he can run a bit faster, even though he runs fine now. Again i still havn't heard him bark hehe i guess its a good thing though .
He obeys to a few commands like sit and come here Sheroo, not sure if he already knew. |

We had him in the laundry room last night with a gate. I'm extremely impressed with him, he hasn't peed or pooped inside yet, he always waits. Just today morning at 6:00 he jumped the gate and started to walk to my room i was half a sleep so i was like ahh maybe the gate fell down? He walks into my room and i take him outside and the gate was still up (he jumped it!) , i took him outisde and it turned out he had to poo haha such good dog...thats not all while i was washing the cars he started to bark for the first time (first time i heard) at some old lady =]...(just happy he can bark). He has gotten a lot more active than he was at the spca. |

I think you're going to love this dog from what you've said so far.
Thanks for rescueing. |

| Re: Hello, adopted a new dog! After looking at him some more, I'm going with a Golden Retriever/Dacshund mix. I've seen some Lab/Dachshund mixes and they've looked like a short legged Lab, and your dog looks like a short legged Golden.
Here is a Cream longhaired Dachshund: |
