| Re: Sleeping with the dog Two of my dogs sleep in bed with us, one has his own bed on the floor. And we have a Cal King too.
Bubba, is the oldest and he has his own bed which is good because he is a 100 lb. Lab. He has never really slept on the bed. I think he got pushed off once and hit the ground hard.
Harry, 40 lb Gordon, sleeps on my feet or behind my knees. He sometimes starts off on the floor on his bed, then if it gets cold he will be up with me. And my husband is up and off to work by 4:30 am and I sleep til 6 am, so he curls up with me for the remainder.
Lady 20 lb. schnoodle, sleeps between us or by her daddy. She is always cold even in the summer so she will cuddle.
All my dogs are rescues, so I let them get away with almost everything. |

| Re: Sleeping with the dog I agree with Curb.
If you've got a stable pack, where your in "charge" hopefully, LOL, letting your dog sleep with you isn't too much of a problem.
My dogs both have large doggy beds in the bedroom, but come up every morning to greet us, once we're half awake.
Nights where I'm home alone my dogs sleep with me. Most of the time Roxy gets up halfway through the night and goes to her bed, but Hades will snuggle all night.
I don't see it to be problematic as long as you've got a good grasp on resource control and you don't see any unwanted behaviours arising in your dog. I think the first sign of trouble when it comes to beds, is a negative reaction out of your dog when you ask them to get off. |

| Re: Sleeping with the dog With our new dog my husband said NO WAY... but with our first dog- a Great Dane, we did let him until he was about 1 year and then my husband told me it was Boca or him.... guess who I picked?
Boca! (kidding... my hubby) but Boca slept right beside us. ... he wasn't too happy about it. |

| Re: Sleeping with the dog My lab sleeps in the bed with us every night. Usually between us with head on our pillow, but sometimes he chooses one of us and lays straight across our legs. The first night he did this to me I woke up thinking I was paralyzed until I realized Jynx was laying on me, lol. (he's 75#). Our Saint Bernard is allowed on the bed with us anytime he wants, but he chooses to sleep on the floor in front of the fan. This is a good thing, I guess, because he's already 97# and he's a puppy. Our hound has to sleep in her crate at night because of potty issues. But we do have a doggy diaper for her and if we could get her to wear it, we would let her sleep with us, too. I keep telling my husband we may have to get another king bed and connect it to our current one if we ever do get all 3 dogs up there with us. |

| Re: Sleeping with the dog My two dogs in the house and my cat sleep with me. My dogs are very attatched to me and always wanna be snuggled up against me all night. They have slept with me from night one and I wouldn't have it any other way, but they also know that if I need them to move, they move. |

| Re: Sleeping with the dog We had always said we wouldn't let koda sleep on the bed,but he managed to sneak up one night as we got into bed.
He is a malamute so he gets quite hot on the bed so he usually has a quick cuddle then jumps down on the floor and sleeps there, I dont think it would be a particularly comfortable nights sleep if he decided to stay on the bed,as he is a big boy!!

| Re: Sleeping with the dog I have Standards (Poodles), and both of them sleep in bed with me. They don't steal my pillows, hog the covers or the space, but move out've the way in deference to me (and they don't f**t or snore, either!).
I'm single now, but even when I wasn't, the dogs slept in the bed with us. No problems concerning that (if a man weren't pro dog, he wouldn't get past the door, much less in my bed!). I've trained them to seek permission before getting on the bed or the furniture, so they are polite about such matters. I don't enjoy rude dogs, so it was my responsibility to teach them manners and the rules of my household, so we all understand each other without conflict. I don't see the need to keep a dog off the furniture, and to walk through the door before the dog, blah, blah, blah. It would be a real PITA to go out the door before my dogs! I want them out so I can follow, and then turn and easily close/lock the door without them in the way! You have to keep things in perspective, and do what works well with you and your dog(s). |

| Re: Sleeping with the dog My dog stays in bed with me and I wouldn't have it any other way. He's my baby and I would deff be lonely without him somewhere in my room. Sometimes he sleeps on the carpet next to my bed, sometimes he's under the bed, and sometimes he's curled up right next to me. It comes to the point were I either have to go and pick him up to get him in my bed or I have to pick him up and move him over so that I have room to stretch out in bed. |

| Re: Sleeping with the dog I really had no choice with my last dog (Jack Russel/Lab mix)....If he was on my bed when i was falling asleep i'd tell him to get down into his bed and he would.......then i'd wake up in the morning and he would be right next to me. I miss that dog........I'll be getting a boxer here in about 8-10 weeks ( he was just born this last friday).....I plan on doing a better job in training him to sleep in his own bed. |
