Questions regarding sleep and exercise.

From Monday - Friday while wifey and I are at work, my new dog Wade is crated from 8am - 1pm. Then from 2 - 5pm. And again from about 11pm - 6:15am.

He's probably getting a ton of sleep. Is there such a thing as too much sleep for a dog this age (probably a dumb question)?

Also, he gets walked from (there are approximate times but walk durations remain firm):
6:15 - 6:45am
1:10 - 1:40pm
5:15 - 5:45pm
10 - 10:30pm

That's a total walk time (includes light jogging) or two hours a day.

Is this enough exercise? I feel like it's not enough for him.

Oh, Wade's about 50 pounds (he's underwieght right now) and a year to a year and a half old.

What do you guys think?

That's plenty of walking for most dogs. Is he too hyper in the evening?

I think you might teach him to love fetch, find the most convenient place you can throw a ball the farthest, and give him a good workout every day. Best way I've ever found to get a dog as much exercise as he can stand.

My dogs have a routine, they know what times their two walks are going to happen. They have their routine of sleeping and lazing around, and about walk time they start getting antsy and hyper.

not hyper in the evening in the slightest.

In fact, he seems to settle down in his bed around 9'ish but then I take him for another walk at 10pm. I hope this doesn't annoy him lol.

Then around 11pm or before I go to bed I move him to his crate (he goes willingly enough because he associates crate with food).

I'm definitely looking forward to play fetch with him. But he does not give tennis balls (or anything else I throw) a second look. This could take some time. He does run/jog with me though.

I'm relieved to hear that he's getting enough exercise though.
