| Re: Is Salmon Oil good for DOGS? I don't see why not...I wouldn't give too much. My dogs have had canned salmon before with no ill effects. I have also given them just regular fish oil capsules, so I don't see why salmon would be any different. |

| Re: Is Salmon Oil good for DOGS? Dogs need a little of the longer chain fatty acids found in fish oils. Any decent chow is formulated to have more than most dogs need. There isn't any need to add it or anything else to a kibble. |

| Re: Is Salmon Oil good for DOGS? I give my dogs more fish in the winter so they don't get all staticy from the heat being on. Also, more keeps their coats extra oily and super smooth/clean. I was actually told to add it to kibble by a malamute breeder when I was still feeding kibble. Now I don't bother with the oil because I give them the real thing |

| Re: Is Salmon Oil good for DOGS? Some Crestie folks use it. It tends to help clear the skin if there's a blackhead problem. So it must be beneficial in other ways too. =) |

| Re: Is Salmon Oil good for DOGS? I was giving Ami capsules at 4/5 months old...I would cut them open and put them on her kibble. I probably did it every other day, if I remembered, lol. Sometimes I'll supplement with odd things here and there, but I shake it up and change it every once in a while. Right now they have cranberry capsules for Ami's urine issues, and they also have a multivitamin that I give them a couple times a week. I think that when we run out of the cranberry, I might do raspberry and see if it really helps their pigmentation. Especially since they are outside a lot more in the winter. |

Vrod85 | I've added a squirt of Grizzly Salmon oil to Beemer's breakfast for years now and he is very healthy, great coat, nice and soft. Highly recommend it- just ensure that the amount is right for the dog's weight. |

| Re: Is Salmon Oil good for DOGS? I have always given all my dogs fish oil. It's great for their coat and skin. Actually, it's the only supplement my crew gets.
If you're able to feed whole salmon that would be even better!

When I first started feeding raw I figured I would feed the dogs a whole raw fish at least once a week, but it's just not happening, so it's time for some omega supplements I guess. Quote:

| Re: Is Salmon Oil good for DOGS? I use salmon oil with both my dogs and they have great coats. My rat terrier was itchy and since we added the salmon oil, he's no longer itchy.
However, salmon oil can cause vitamin e deficiency so make sure you add some vitamin e to the food to balance it out. I'm not great at remembering it, but I try to add a capsule to their food every other day. |
