How can you tell the age?

Recently a small dog that looks like a dauchsund mix appeared at our house. What is the best way to determine his age? Since I think he is around six or so months, but I want to be a bit more certain.

If you could supply a pic I think that would probably help. If the breed is unknown, my guess is it would be harder to try and determine a dogs age. I have not read of any quick and easy way to determine a random dogs age.

Ah okay. I'm going to try and get pictures on here soon of my dogs. I know that would help greatly. He's about the size of a mini dauchsund though, and is long and brown like my dauchsund. But he is definately young. He is fully developed and his teeth seem big, not like baby teeth, but I'm not certain.

i thought you could guesstimate a dogs age by their teeth. but don't quote me on that.

Yeah, that's what I did. That's why I think he is around six months, but I'd like to be able to be certain on an age. Haha. But, he is young, agile, all that so by his behavior he has to be around the same age of my eight month old, I think.

Very interesting, I had not heard of that before. I did the google thing and found this page with a decent video

Looks like a decent method, but still just a general rule of thumb. As long as the puppy is happy, the exact age plus or minus a month or two is not that important imho. I would love to see pics though. I love dachshunds, they are some of the cutest puppies.
