Question What dya think of Japan's Crate ???

I live in Japan and we have a soon to be 3 months old toy poodle.Hes here with us almost 2 weeks now since we got him . My question is, what can you say about the cage that we bought. In Japan petstores most of the cage that u will find is the cage that we own. Its called Kennel or Crate in the states and here they call it Cage. The cage for dogs here is spacious that u put the toilet tray where the puppy pads is iniside & theres a smell wehre only pups can smell it for him to do his thing there. And u put his small bed inside his cage. My pup has a petbottle water where he would just lick on the tube and the water comes out ,its there 24/7. So he sleeps on his bed and just do his pee or pooing on top of the tray. He doesnt do it anywhere or on his bed but sometimes he would do it jst near his tray but its seldom.

What do you think of this kind of Cage ? My pup is not yet done with his 3 rd vaccine so he is not yet allowed to go for a walk or to go outside. We also live in a medium sized apartment ,2md floor..no backyard or something else.

Heres a picture of him inside his crate.

I live in the states, but b/c I have a Papillon that was not quite 2 lbs when I brought her home I needed to come up with a bathroom solution as I could not take her out every 30-60 minutes....I do work full time, but I do have a mid-day pet sitter for her. Anyway, we purchased a large crate that had a divider & my husband cut a doorway in the metal that we made safe for her to walk thru. She was only in her "2-room condo" when we were at work, with a mid-day pet sitter break, & then to sleep at night.....otherwise she was out with us at all times. In essence she had what you have...potty pad on one side and bedroom with a couple toys and chew things on the other with a mounted water bowl. She did very well with it & I would certainly do it again. We were actively training her to go to the bathroom outside & b/c of our training methods she did eventually stop using the "2-room condo" & then transitioned to a regular crate. She now no longer uses a crate & is 100% outdoor potty trained. If you are intending on training her to go to the bathroom outdoors you will get alot of feedback saying what you are doing will confuse her. It did not confuse my dog but I think that was b/c of the way we went about it.

thx Lovelily for the info you shared. Eventually we will be taking him outside to do his thing there and hope that he would use his crate as his own domain. Most of the people who owns dogs here does the same thing that we do .So i just hope that he would learn the good way.

I think it's a great idea to train your dog to use a tray or litter pan especially if you don't have an outside area they can use. The crate you have looks very nice too.
