will he start going mental and humping everything now?
Ohh and when i get him neutered will this stop? its quite embarrassing finding your dog humping a guests leg lol |

| Sometimes after their neutered male dogs will stop or calm down, but some don't even change much. I think training them not to do it is the best way because neutering them will not always stop the behaviour. |

| Hmm, well I have only had primarily female dogs...our last male didn't hump anything. But I can tell you that you probably shouldn't shake a toy or give it to him while he's doing it because he could take that to mean that he's being rewarded for humping. If it was me I'd say 'no' or whatever you use as a command to stop a behaviour and remove him from whatever he is humping and then reward him after he stops humping. You can keep him distracted with toys, just make sure he is not humping when the toy is given. |

| Usually a sharp ""Ah! Ah!"" works to stop them. If a dog mounts a guest (or me as I had done by my friends something-or-other-poo) i firmly grab the collar and pull them off while saying a stern ""knock it off!"" If they do it a second time (which is rare if you make your point clear enough the first time) Be firmer with getting the dog the leg and use a sterner voice when saying ""knock it off!"" or whatever phrase you decide to use. |

| Our puppy did this when we first brought him home (at 10 wks old) and we were shocked too! What we found out is that if they try doing it to you our other people they're trying to assert their dominance. We do the Cesar Milan schhhht sound and tap him away. If he's doing it to his toys from what I understand it is just a hormone thing. We hoped it would stop when he got neutered at 4 1/2 months, but he still does it occasionally. I also try to redirect him (as stated above) when he does it to his toys since it's kind of awkward when guests are around. It's definitely a hard habit to deal with. He does do it less since being neutered. |

| I know what you are going thru.
Ben has started doing it a lot lately. He's 4 1/2 months old. I just can't wait to get him fixed, maybe it'll calm it down a little. |

| dachlover: i know!! thats why i was a bit worried, he hasnt started humping us yet just his bed and dressing gown lol, i dont mind him doing it because its natural, i just dont want him doing it to guests. We are having him neutered in a few months (when hes old enough) and hopefully, like yours, he will calm down a little! |

| If you don't want him to do it, correct him every time he does. And, if it's specific objects, take them away. |
