not eating as much as normal??

Saddie is now 4 months old...normally she eats 1 cup 2 times aday, but here for the past few days from what i can tell is is eating just alittle more than 1 cup.... she got into the trash the other nite while i was out...(reckon i am gonna have to put her in the crate even when hubby is home if i am leaving...ha ha ha!) but she hasnt gotten sick or having probs using the bathroom, has just as much energy as normal actually there is no change in her at all other than she is just eating less....she has a vet appointment in alittle less than a wk so if this is something i should be concerned about i will ask about it at that time.... but i was wondering if you all had any suggestions on what could of made her eat less... she got fixed a few wks ago, but the next day she was eating as normal... its just here the past few days.. and i cant seem to think of any reason why she would be eating less... i maybe be concerned for nothing, but i thought it couldnt hurt to ask.... would really appericate anything you have to say about it.... thanks

well i know there was people food for a fact.... but other than that i really cant remember... just about anything i would put in the trash... i am gonna put something heavy in the bottom of the can as to make it harder for her to knock it over... altho if it gets to the top she can still prop her feet on it and get whatever out, but i normally take it out before then. so she doesnt try to get in it...

If there were poultry bones, she could have bone splinters in her throat and intestines. If there was grease, she could have pancreatitis. If there was plastic, there could be a blockage. Any of that would put her off of her feed, though a blockage would probably cause her to stop eating altogether. Trash can be really dangerous to dogs, and I'd suggest you do more than just weight the bottom.

well, the next day after i posted this she started eating normal again... I really didnt think it was anything major as she was still eating. Just not as much as normal and yeah i moved the trash can so that i can see it from anywhere in the livingroom...So that has helped... i just figured weighing it down would give me enough time to get to her. If she decides to be stubborm and not get down when told to... right now thats about all i can really do... dont have any place I could hide it or anything like that.... but thanks for the advice I really appericate it...

Just a tip - another thing that can be dangerous is hand towels. Frequently people will use hand towels in the kitchen to wipe food from their hands, and they keep these towels tied to a drawer handle or the refrigerator door for convenience. The dog comes along and smells this cloth with all the tasty aromas on it, and steals the towel. The next thing you know, the dog has ingested the towel and it's a trip to the vet for surgical removal.

well no worries there as i dont hang my towels on anything in the kitchen... i lay them on the counter...but i dont think she got ahold of anything harmful in the trash as other than the eating less she is fine... i just think she might need to get a bit more exercise and it is suppose to be a bit warmer tomorrow...so gonna take her out to play in the yard and hopefully she wont be 2 distracted by the other dog.
