Puppy food question

I have been feeding my puppy Royal Canin Mini Baby Dog food since she was 8 weeks old. She is 13 weeks old now and I am thinking about changing up the food I buy because the Royal Canin is pretty expensive and the bag does not last that long.

She is a Mini Dachsund by the way.

What kind of food would you recommend and am I going to badly affect her somehow by just changing her food? I am looking for something that is not expensive and it will last a while without having to buy food every week like I am now.

Thanks

Re: Puppy food question

I just switched Myla's food for cost reasons as well. We went to Costco and got her Kirkland Puppy-Chicken Rice and Vegetables. It is a 20lbs bag for $16. And the kibbles are small enough for a Dachshund.
I was also pleasantly surprised there wasn't any junk in that food, because most store brand foods have full of fillers and other garbage.

Royal Canin isn't really a great brand of food and it's extremely, extremely overpriced. If you are looking for something cheaper, I would check out Natural Balance, Kirkland, Premium Edge and Taste of the Wild. All are very decent foods.

Remember to switch over her food gradually to prevent any stomach upsets.

I agree that Royal canin is a expensive dog food and is not worth what we pay for. Try using Kirkland. I had to switch over my dog food for the same reasons and started with Kirkland. Do start the change gradually as immediate switching over the food may cause stomach problems.
