new dog, need help with older dog

Hi all, great site. I've searched and couldn't find anything about this(maybe i'm blind). In december 05' my wife and I adopted a 4 month old male boxer mix that was brought here from louisianna after hurricane katrina as a survivor. We have attended obedience classes and he is a great dog that we love very much. He has always listened very well until recently. About 2 weeks ago we adopted another dog, female pit about 10 months old, they get along great and play all the time. Lately he has not been listening to us with basic commands such as sit and lay down, and growled at me last night when i pet him while he was chewing on a rawhide laying next to me. That behavior is and always has been unacceptable. He has never been possesive of anything to anyone. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions on dealing with this? We make sure he eats before the new dog and gets treats, toys, goes out etc. first. Has this gone to his head? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

short, its normal for him to be doing it i think maybe you should keep the new dog in a diffenrent room form him more often then see how he reacts its very normal for a dog to be doing that exspecially if he is connected to the other dog.

Thanks for replying. He has already started to get better with listening. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something that needed to be dealt with right away!
