Moved into new house.. oh man please help me..

So I moved into a new house with my best friend and his gf (its been 4 yrs of us as a "trio" if u will, but ANYWAYS)

my Beagle, (6 months) wasn't fully potty trained before we left our old house. I used puppy pads and I took him out every 30 min or so, I work all day and it was tile (easy cleanup)

So this new house has carpet, and he also has a companion (little jack russel) so they play NON-STOP..

Any tips or tools of the trade I can use/do? Any horrific stories you've had moving?

note: The downstairs is tile, which is where we'll keep them all day.. upstairs where we sleep is carpet.

HELP ME PLEASE!!!

Have you thought about crate training?

Also most dogs have to go potty X# hours/min. after eating. It's different for every dog. Once you figure that out it's really a piece of cake.

You may want to invest in some nature's miracle for any accidents on the carpet. It works wonders.

you have been a member on forum since 11/07 and I hope you have read many posts about crates. I can't drive to your home, beat you up and make you buy a crate. In your case 2 crates. It kinda works like this you take your beagle out he pees and poops, he comes in plays 5 minutes with jack and guess what he has to got out again because he is a young excited puppy, but you are home and can take him out. Why 2 crates because you leave home and your beagle is crated and jack torments beagle through crate gate and then accidents in crate. While you are home and dogs are supervised, don't need crating but when gone from home crates needed. This is foolproof way to preserve rugs while you are out of home.

wvasko-

Yes I have read 1000000000000000000000 posts about crate training,
But it boils down to a few things ->
1. Exercise. They play non-stop and they are *never* violent with eachother, so it can't hurt.

2. The whole leaving in a cage for 7-8 hours? Sorry, I know theres alot of debates about it, but in the end, it's my personal opinion.. "I wouldnt want to be put in a cage for 8 hours... why would I put my best friend there?

3. The downstairs is tile, as mentioned, and we gate it so they cant go upstairs (on the carpet)

you hit the head right on the nail with the excited puppys/so they pee more statement, But we limited their water intake so it seems to be helping.

Zachhemouse: The peeing is all over the place as far as time, due to so much play and what not. We limited the water intake && as far as poop, my dog goes 2x a day... about 3am and about 7pm. Try working that around your clock lol

Luvmypup: Explain? lol

Re: Moved into new house.. oh man please help me..

Puppies shouldn't be playing on hard tile for hours on end. It is very heard on young joints.

Puppies normally sleep 15-20 hours a day, which is what they would on a their crates.

I see nothing wrong with your choice of no crate. As we travel through life we do what is comfortable for us, choices, it's your home.
Good Luck.

you don't want to use a crate...

not sure what you expect us to tell you then.

If you have read the crate posts you would know that most of your concerns are unfounded.

JRTs have been known to kill other household dogs if left unsupervised btw

Good luck

I was going to get into an explanation about crates pro and con to try to help him, but his mind is already made up. I have no idea why he asked for help. There is no magic wand to wave to solve his problem. Any way I just decided to get out and let him sink or swim himself. Some people have to learn these things the hard way. Whether it's an injured dog or a house full of furniture worked over.
