good toys for a small puppy

my sister just adopted a doxie mix puppy from the Humane Society. she is about 8 weeks old. I have 2 big dogs and am new to the world of little dogs. She has a puppy kong and some other toys but she doesn't really pay attention to much of them. She would rather chew on a sock or the rugs. What are some fun, interesting toys that are good for little dogs such as her?

Try some bully sticks for chewing. And for play toys I would try the cat dept. Skip the stuff with feathers, etc. on them. But you can find some good small balls and toys there.

Re: good toys for a small puppy

My favorite place to get soft toys is Dollar Tree. I get them from the kids side (so long as beanies aren't a part of their make up). I bought a bunch today. Them I go to the dog section and find the squeaky soft toys. There are also crunchy chews, soft treats all kinds of things for a small price. I keep some of the stuffed toys away because Daja will have them all in the back yard by the fence in a nice pile!

Good luck!

Re: good toys for a small puppy

these little soft squeeky toys from walmart are what i get, theyre 99 cents and last very long, i've even washed them a few times cause they lasted for so long.

there are also very tiny tennis balls for smaller dogs that cant quite fit their mouth around a regular sized ball , they also squeek too so you can check those out at petsmart or a dog store.

My Angus LOVE his teddy bear and frog (well called them Pooh & Michaelangelo) Here is a link that shows what they look like. I actuall got them at PetSmart.

Plus he LOVED his Woobie! It's not really called Woobie, that was just what we called it. Here is a like to what it looks like:

This was his baby and he always had it with him.

And now his newest toys are:

Plus Walmart sells small yellow tennis balls in packages of 2 that are perfect for little guys. I bought Angus 5 packs of them and keep them in his "backpack" for the park.

Hope this helps.

Re: good toys for a small puppy

I bought a stuffed dog somewhere ($ store) and it lasted forever! I bought a "dog toy" from PetsMart, and it lasted less than a day. I'd rather pay a buck for a toy that if it is torn to shreds in a couple of days it's no big deal.

Mine love the really soft mushy "chenille" type toys. Never have liked the others.

My mini doxie's favorite toy is Plush Dog with Squeakers and/or her daddy socks. Its bigger that she is but it light enough that she can carry it around.
