| Curious and Concerns Good morning Doggy Forum Families!
It’s Sunshiny day here in St. Louis. I could really appreciate this sun shine after several yucky days.
After getting better, Becky started to show her Monster sides, chewing, licking, biting (in a playful way) and he thinks he is a successor of his ancestor, big hunter, and tries to overran squirrel and climb up the trees to catch him (what a cutie) Now we really appreciate our big yard for the first time we bought this house about a year ago.
Well we gave up her snoring. (We think we got used to it). Here is one thing makes me really curious and two things make me concern.
1) Curios: Why does Becky like to lick? Mine and my husband’s faces and bodies, sometimes pillows and beddings. My husband says it is because of salt on human body, but I need more explanation that. Or just that it???
2) Concerns : a) She chews everything, we lost so far a lamp, a fan,
phone charger, my hand free set, my shoes and my husband brand new Craftsman adapter. How can we make her stop? We bought/gave her enough toys to chow but guess they are not good enough for her.
b) I was informed that you have to be extra careful hygiene of ears like Beagle who has big ears. I always make sure they are clean. Even vet was impressed how clean they were last time we went to see her. I noticed Becky scratches her ears with his paws (mainly left side). If I touch her ears after she is done scratching, it feels warm. And she shakes her head vigorously more frequently than ever. The other things are she bites her paws as if they are itchy. I don’t know they feel itchy since she spend most of cold morning time outside and finally she gets insides, they become itchy as they gets warmer, or some sort of virus. What should I do? Are they serious?
I would appreciate any experts’ opinion. Have a great day.
(Thank you for taking time to read my lengthy email hehehhe) |

| it's really early in the morning for me, before noon lol, so I'll just answer the chewing question. I teah my dogs to stop chewing on bad things in a similar way that I potty train them. If I catch them chewing on somthing bad I quickly tell them "No" and take them to their basket full of toys. I encourage them to play with their own toys and throw a party when they do.
Some extra things to remember
1) dogs, just like children, need lots of variety in their toys. They need different sizes, shapes, colors, and textures.
2) If you want them to play with their toys then they need access to them. Mine have a basket full of toys in one corner of the room, I never move it so they always know where their toys are.
3) If you don't want them to chew on things like a phone charger then don't let them have access to it. Close all your bedroom doors, pick up everything off the floor, and push everything away from the edge of your counter tops.
There is also a product called bitter apple that youcan spray on things that you don't want to be chewed. I've never found very much success with it. |

1) Curios: Why does Becky like to lick? Mine and my husband’s faces and bodies, sometimes pillows and beddings. My husband says it is because of salt on human body, but I need more explanation that. Or just that it??? Dogs also lick in order to help make scents stronger, or to help themselves sort scents out. Since Becky is a beagle, this wouldn't really be uncommon behavior.
2) Concerns : a) She chews everything, we lost so far a lamp, a fan,
phone charger, my hand free set, my shoes and my husband brand new Craftsman adapter. How can we make her stop? We bought/gave her enough toys to chow but guess they are not good enough for her. One thing to try is to rotate toys and chewies. You want to keep her active, alert and ready for the "next" task. By rotating toys, you'll give her a variety instead of the same things day after day. Keep certian things aside, rotate her toys - and that should help keep her focused on what is hers, and what is not.
When she chews on inappropriate items, tell her NO - remove it from her and promptly replace it with something you will allow her to chew, such as one of her toys, or even a kong

I don’t know they feel itchy since she spend most of cold morning time outside and finally she gets insides, they become itchy as they gets warmer, or some sort of virus. What should I do? Are they serious? Since the vet thinks her ears are good, I wouldnt suppose she could have a yeast infection, but it is something to watch for.
Because she scratches at her ears nad paws - I'd be more concerned about a food allergy. Those are classic signs.
How long have you had her? What is she eating, and how long has she been on that diet?
I would appreciate any experts’ opinion. Have a great day.
(Thank you for taking time to read my lengthy email hehehhe) | If you ever need another beagle, let me know! I'm close to St Louis and our little pound ALWAYS seems to have beagles looking for homes! |

| Thank you Animal Cracker and Jessica!!
Jessica; We rescued her from the shelter Nov. 30th. We bought small bag of Purina (I don't remember the detail, I think ones for small dogs) on the way home, She got very nasty infection, we had to take her to a vet twice and she was on 2 different antibiotics almost 2 wks, she barely ate during we took her to the vet first and second time. Now she is on " Purina Little bite complete". So far we bought scooby snack and dog bite for treats.
Once in a while we feed her, T-bone or some human food (beef or chicken, rice, bread, peanut butter, veggies, fruits) Little bit of everything
Stay dry !!!!!

It's just one run on sentence. Could you please add punctuation and capital letters at the beginning of sentences? I'm sure you have important things to say, and I'd hate to have anyone miss it simply because they couldn't understand it.
Thanks |
