Thats how puppies are, they have burst of energy and then they crash for a few hours.

But if you have any other new puppy questions feel free to ask here or call the breeder. Thats what the breeder is for, they should be able to answer your questions because they don't want you to turn the pup into the shelter or back into them.

Ok i know that im probably worrying too much but my puppy brandy has barley walked all day sense i picked her up. Im taking her to the vet tomarrow but im just very concerened that something is wrong but i have no idea what it could be. she did eat a lil but and drank some water but i have to carry her from room to room and when i took her to go walk outside she would just lay in the grass and barley walk around... is this normal?

Hmmm... that doesn't sound normal. If you feel like she needs to be seen by a vet right away you can take her to an emergency vet. But as long as she is eating and drinking then I think she can wait till the appointment in the morning based on what you have descirbed.

Re: New 8 week old lab help

You have to remember that puppies at this age sleep a LOT. Like 18 hours a day or something...lol. Literally. Also she's probably a bit stressed out from coming into a new environment and being taken from her littermates/mom. I wouldn't worry too much, she's gotta adjust and it'll take her a few days to get used to you and her new home. It's a good idea to take her to the vet anyways, just to get her checked out. But puppies of that age do sleep a great amount...

Yep, they sleep a lot. I couldn't get my two to walk on a leash at that age either. Give her a couple of days, she'll adjust and then you'll be posting that "my puppy is so hyper...help please!!!" . A vet visit is in order though anyway to get introduced to the vet and I would assume her first round of shots if they haven't already been administered.

Good luck!

Ally was just like that when I first got her...and I was worried because she was breathing fast..but it was just the stress of a new house, being away from her brothers and sisters. I took her to the vet the next day too though for her first set of shots and puppy exam.

thank you everyone for your imput... luckily my gf took her outside as right after i made my last post and she started to play and run and just move. She came back inside and started to explore the house and was very upset to go be put to bed. i think she just had the new house jitters.

Regardless of whether she appears ill or not, any dog that you bring home should be taken to the vet for a full check-up within a few days of arrival, just to make sure the dog's health is sound.

My pup was the same way when we brought her home at 8w. SHe slept almost the entire day for the 1st 2 days. THe vet told me it was just the stress from the change. I did end up taking her to the vet for a checkup but she was fine. Good Luck and enjoy your new pup.
