Kong fillings other than Peanut Butter

Hello folks,

We have a Kong for our puppy, and I am curious to hear what people have stuffed theirs with other than peanut butter. Our 1 1/2 year old son is alergic to all nuts and eggs so a peanut filled kong is out of the question.

Problem #2: unlike the Kong we had for our previous dog which we could fill with kibble, the hole on the puppy sized kong is big enough that puppy kibble just rolls out the first time she kicks it over. Not much to hold her attention there.

The only other suggestion that I have heard is chicken broth, but she does not play with it that much and it would make a really big mess for my wife to clean up as it melts.

The upshot is that I am curious if anyone has tried anything else.

Thanks,
Eric

You bet we have. I like to mix different things like wet kibble with peanut butter, banana, and crumbled rice cakes, a swirl of honey and freeze. Since peanut butter is a no no for you, maybe cottage cheese could be a substitute. Ground carrot would be good too. For us (Elsa and I), we seek variety, texture, and freezeability when constructing our Kongs, lol.

Just out of curiosity...why do you freeze them? just to make it more of a challenge? Is there some other benefit?

Fill-A-Kong

Here are a couple more ideas for kongs:
yogurt and cheerios
canned dog food
babyfood ( meats or/and oatmeal&fruit)

When I'm in a hurry, I've just stuffed mine with a dog biscuit that is really hard to get in, which means, it's hard for him to get out. It's an easy 2 hours for him to get it out.

I freeze them for two reasons...less mess (not all dogs are neat though), and yes, so it's more challenging and mentally stimulating.

You can wet down a dog's kibble so it's moist and then freeze it... that'll keep it from rolling out. >^_^<
