Spaying tomorrow

Tomorrow we take Pepper in to be spayed.

The person from the clinic who called me mentioned that she should not eat anything after midnight tonight. OK, that's not a huge problem. (she'll be whiny in the morning, but that's OK)

I think she also said something about keeping her indoors today. Pepper is a 5 month old English Springer Spaniel mix and it is 70 degrees and sunny out today. No way I was going to be keeping her inside and un-exercised. Did I hear the woman at the clinic right? Was it OK to let her out today?

This is probably a really stupid question, but I am just curious.

I would call the clinic back for verification. But I can't imagine why you would need to keep the dog inside, other than to be sure she doesn't eat any grass, etc after midnight.

Re: Spaying tomorrow

I've never heard that one before. We tell our clients NO food after 9 pm (the night before) and of course none in the morning. Water is okay. I wonder what their thoughts are to keep them indoors, unless you're having a heat wave.

Re: Spaying tomorrow

Thanks. She is at the clinic now, and I think I figured it out. They asked again if she was an indoor dog. (yes) I live in Appalachia, and while I live in an apartment (OK, rented house) in Bristol City, they get plenty of people who live on farms bringing their dogs in.

I think she just wanted to verify that she was an indoor dog.

I am between contracts and it is really lonely here without the dog. For as much work as a Springer puppy is, I miss her today!
