Multiple pups

We have two lab puppies, a female and male brother and sister. I have noticed when they play the get a little aggressive toward each other. I have noticed the female will cower down to the male who is bigger. How do I stop this or will they grow out of it??

Twinney is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Multiple pups

How old are they...
They might be...rebelious teenage puppies.
Fang and Shunka went through that...fighting all the time, but they get along just fine now.
You might need to separate them and let them play, and then separate them when things get rough...
Thats what I've been told to do.
I just let our puppies fight it out, they normally got over soon and were playing again.

Re: Multiple pups

Sorry about that... they are 11 weeks old. Like I said, is this something to worry about or should I take some kind of action. Thanks for the quick response!

Re: Multiple pups

What may happen between them can't be controlled. Your action, however, should be to socialize these pups with other types of dogs and provide independent training scenarios for both of them. I highly recommend a proactive approach to socialization, so, if you haven't enrolled these dogs in puppy school, work on this now. You may even need to enroll them in separate puppy classes.

Your pups could learn to work it out on their own but you've got a compounding problem. You have two dogs with similar interests, thus, underlying all this will be a reinforcement need for these interests. So, chances are stronger that your dogs may one day fight. However, like I said earlier, if you take a proactive approach you may be able to instill a learning history of appeasement rather than squabble - even as it translates to other dogs.
