Your action, however, should be to socialize these pups with other types of dogs and provide independent training scenarios for both of them. I highly recommend a proactive approach to socialization, so, if you haven't enrolled these dogs in puppy school, work on this now. You may even need to enroll them in separate puppy classes.
Your pups could learn to work it out on their own but you've got a compounding problem. You have two dogs with similar interests, thus, underlying all this will be a reinforcement need for these interests. So, chances are stronger that your dogs may one day fight. However, like I said earlier, if you take a proactive approach you may be able to instill a learning history of appeasement rather than squabble - even as it translates to other dogs. |
