whats going on?

We have 2 dogs, one is 4, the other is 5. Recently the 4yr old Shiba ate some molded bread. She was hospitalized overnight, and right as she got back our 5yr old dog *who does get jealous* is attacking her. Our 5yr old has never attacked her, and vice versa. Why do you think she is doing this?

Re: whats going on?

Thats weird I donno. I had something happen kinda like that. In colorado after a few months of having stu, Zoe (my golden), Stu (past mini doxie) got really close. Stu was small enough to bath in the apartment. I would bring Zoe to a do it yourself dog wash. Well the first time I brought her and when we got home Stu got really mad at her. He bark and whined at her (like he was scared), and did it like 3 times before he finally stopped. Then like an hour later, it was like it never happened. I was thinking maybe the different smells, I donno... Someone should come along who knows a little more about this behavior.

Rather than jealousy, which is a complicated emotion that dogs don't experience, it could have been the smells that your dog returned with after coming from the Hospital. Your other dog could be picking up the scents of strange dogs, people, and medication which could have made it lose the recognition. Try giving them their own space for maybe a couple days to allow both of them to readjust.

When I brought my puppy to the vet this past week she got her a pup shot. Puddles wouldnt leave the jab site alone..She would sniff that one spot excessively. Then look at me as if shed say "what you did to my sister" Of course it was sore for Iris so I kept them separated, Ohhh how Pudds didnt like that.
