| Happy March 10,2007-May 25,2009
Last night Happy got hit by a car. My uncle let her out to pee and watched her I don't know the details but I know he was begging her to come back from across the road and she did but a car was coming. It hit her head on and she managed somehow to stagger over to my uncle and then the strength left her and she died right there in his arms. He kept saying "that's papaw's girl". When she was gone he freaked out. He has a lot of heart problems and we were worried he would have a heart attack. This man loved this dog sooo much all you ever heard was 'come here papaw's girl'. Happy was an amazing dog, everyone she met she left a big impression on. I've never seen a dog be so happy to see a stranger in my life, or roll over for so many belly rubs. She was such a good dog. She left a huge whole in everyone here.. Not only did she leave a mourning family and a handfull of friends, but she left 7 little treasures behind also. She had 7 puppies waiting in the house for her to come back and feed them and just be the good mom she was, they're just 3 weeks old. They kept crying for their mom . I just don't know what to say to let everyone know what an impression this dog left on everyone she met. I've heard stories like this before, where a mother dog dies and leaves her babies behind and I had the typical response. I would utter something like "how terrible" or "that's so sad" as many of you will do but until you are in a situation like that you can't even grasp the pain and heartache it brings. I even had a dream last night where my cousin called me and said "Happy got killed" as she did in real life. She was crying in real life and my dream but in my dream I said "What are you talking about? Happy's here with me, she's fine" then my cousin said "No she got hit by a car she didn't make it she's gone" But I looked over at happy on my couch chewing on a rawhide and continued to try to convince her she was here with me and fine. Then I walked over and gave Happy some of her favorite treats and rubbed her belly and still told my cousin she was fine. Unfortunately the dream ended there and I was brought back to reality. Happy is gone. She won't be back. I'll never rub her belly or pet her ears or get all those big wet kisses from her again..it's just starting to hit me. I just can't believe she's gone and for some reason I have a feeling I'll pull up and she'll greet me and instantly roll over for a belly rub like always..I know that won't happen but it's hard to convince myself it's true.
All we can do is learn from our mistakes and try to focus on the treasures she left behind for us to enjoy and take care of. It's so hard to take care of them, all you want to do is think of Happy or just not think about it at all but her puppies need us. I know this is far from well composed, I'm jumping subject to subject but so many thoughts are popping up. Her puppies will carry on her legacy I know it sounds corny but this dog left behind some big paw prints to fill. Her puppies are just a constant reminder of her. Sometimes you'll notice that one puppy has that same walk happy did, or one is constantly wagging it's tail just like it's mom. Happy will always be with us she'll always be watching over her little babies making sure they are fine every step of the way.
I have pictures to post and a little sentence or two to happy.
Dear Happy,
I'm writing to a dog, that's strange. But big girl I don't think I can compare you to a dog. I'm glad I spent that time with you the day you died it was just me and you outside looking up at the stars you sat by me and every so often you would lick my face. That's the kind of dog you were, you were just always there watching over your humans. I remember when you were little you used to get so excited when you saw me you would pee all over the floor and kim would yell at you but you didn't care you had your friend! You would try to lick my face and whine at the same time so you would end up nipping me. I'm glad you were here for the time that you were, trust me girl I'll never forget you. I'm keeping one of your puppies as I promised, I really like the black and brown male. Whichever I get I'll name it Haven and hopefully it'll take up after it's mom alot. Don't worry about your puppies we'll take care of them if it's the last thing we do. Shanda misses you terribly, she's done nothing but cry and your papaw isn't doing too well either but I'll help them through. I love you Happy and I know I'll get to see you again someday and I can't wait. Hopefully some of you will live on in your puppies. I'm so sad you're gone, I can't believe it. I miss you.
Thanks for reading everyone PLEASE keep your fingers crossed for the puppies they'll need it. They've done nothing but cry since Happy died.

| Re: Happy Oh, no! I was just reading the latest puppy update, and then I saw this. I didn't know Happy, but I feel a little heartbroken myself. She always looked . . . happy in her pictures.
I'm sure you're devastated. I'm wishing you and the pups the best. |

I know if she was here she would want her babies to be well taken care of and given the same love she got. Quote:

I'm sure you're devastated. I'm wishing you and the pups the best. | I know what you mean, I posted the update about the puppies and then got the call about happy about 30 minutes later. Thank you, she was the happiest dog ever it seemed like she was always happy! Thank you so much your words help us through this a little bit. We're all doing alot better though of course we're still sad and it's hard but the puppies give us something to look forward to each day and keep our minds positive. Quote:

Try to think of all the little Happies she left behind. | Somehow we've managed to focus on her little lagacies. They're doing great and are a huge source of inspiration. I can only imagine how they felt when the only mother they knew was ripped away from them, they were entirely dependent on her. They're doing tons better though and we are too Thank you so much how strangers could care so much I'll never know but you guys sure do help. Quote:

| Re: Happy Thanks guys
the puppies are doing great, they're all moving out to their own furever homes. I know Happy is very proud of precious babies, I bet she's up there just being her good old happy self. It's hard to even believe any of it even happened. When all the puppies are gone the only reminder will be the vent she used to lay on and her grave outside, for now the puppies are a constant reminder...but we've managed to turn them into a good reminder and a positive force. We miss you Happy! |
