My 1 year old German Shepherd/Irish setter was put to sleep today... He had suffered for far to long and everything that we tried did not seem to work. I think he had taken almost every medicine there was, had surgery, and had been to three different vets and went to the vet school hospital. He had a megaesophagus and we could not find the underlying cause. I rescued him from a humane society (that wasn't all that humane), lying on a concrete floor in a 3x4 kennel amidst his own excrement. At least I provided him a place that he could live in comfort.
