Carter is in Doggy Heaven...

Today at 10:10am, we finally put our beloved 3yr old Boxer mix Carter down. After months of struggling with his Separation anxiety and Dog aggression it just got to the point where we knew that we needed to put him down before he killed himself and died in pain.

Yesterday we came home to a mess in our basement after only being gone for 2 hours. He has somehow reached the cover that covered our water pipe (it was way out of reach) which was 25lbs of pure wood, and started to tear it to pieces. That cover covered a hole that is about 3ft deep. If he would have fallen in, it would have been the end. There was a lot of blood, and we decided that it was time.

It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. It was something so heartbreaking, so hurtful that I still feel sick from watching it happen. My poor puppy. I really loved him a ton and know this was the best thing for him. At least he is no longer alone and no longer in any pain.

Thank-you Carter for the 8 months of happy times along with all of the sad. You were a great dog and I hope we did the best for you. We love you and miss you so much. It isn’t the same without you. I hope there is a doggy heaven for you and you are there happy and healthy. Mommy and Daddy misses you like hell and always will.

I am so sorry, Dark. Carter is happy now though and free of his anxiety and pain. He is no doubt thankful for the 8 months he was given to live with you and your fiancé.

I am both sad and happy for Carter. Sad that he wont grow old like the others, happy because he is now free from all the pain. Thank you for sharing Carter's life with us. My thoughts are with you at this very sad moment.

I'm so sorry. Those 8 months were by far the best months in his life. He's no longer in pain and he went knowing you both loved him with all of your hearts.

Darkmoon I am so sorry that it ended this way. You did all that you could and gave Carter a lot more of a chance then most people would. He knew love and that is something only few dogs truly get to experience. He was a lucky boy to have had you and even though it hurts right now, You know you did what was best for him. Rest in peace Handsome boy. My thoughts are with you Darkmoon, I am truly sorry for the pain you are feeling over Carter.

Rest in peace Carter. He was a beautiful animal- now his mind can be at peace too. I really hope the rainbow bridge exists, because if it does you know he will be whole and happy and waiting for you.

So sorry...you did the right thing. I just wish the damage could have been undone, but you tried everything you could and more. At least when he passed he was happy and with you.
