Re: Carter is in Doggy Heaven...

I'm so upset right now. I haven't been here most of the week, and I missed this. I am so sorry for your loss Darkmoon. Carter was special to me...even from here. I cry tears for him and offer my condolences. You did the right thing. don't question that. Rest in peace Carter.

I am so sorry about this. Know that you are one of the most dedicated dog mom and dad I have ever seen.

God bless you!

I'm sure it much be hard. I'm very sorry.

I'm sorry I must have missed many of your threads. What were the symptoms of SA he had? I know it can be very hard to deal with. Also that Boxers seem to be more prone to it then other breeds. I knew a white Boxer who had it extremely bad.

I'm so sad for everyone involved. Carter truly was a stunning dog. Thank you for sharing him with all of us.
You did the best thing you could while he was here.

Depending on the day, he had EVERYTHING.
He would poop in the house while we were gone (only some days and he was fully house broken)
He destroyed 3 crates
If he was loose in the house he would destroy all the mini blinds and anything he could get his teeth on
He chewed through a door
Howled and barked until neighbors began to complain
hurt himself MANY times to the point where we feared that he would kill himself if left alone.
In the end I couldn't even close the door between him and the kitchen without him freaking out (I couldn't get him pass 30 seconds no matter how long or hard I tried). Any other door in the house was fine except that one. He was also getting more aggressive toward other dogs and the week we put him down, he actually bit me (he didn't make me bleed but left a good size bruise on my arm) when I stood in between him and the neighborhood cat (this cat enjoys teasing Dogs.. He will sit just out of range of the dogs and meow at them. Its pretty funny to watch.). It was to the point where between his SA and agression that he was either going to kill himself trying to get out of the house or attack someone walking by if they had a dog with them. I didn't want him to be re homed, he had been through 4, so we made the call for him to be happy and no longer alone.

I really do miss that boy. Even with all of his problems, he was a huge sweetie and very very smart.

Re: Carter is in Doggy Heaven...

I just want you to know that I have NEVER cried when anyone elses dog has died. Just never hit me as hard as this did. I really got to know carter here, and compared him a lot to my Chance. I am thankful that Chance is nowhere near as bad as carter was, but I feel terrible that Carters got that bad. You, like I have said before, are an AMAZING person for what you went through with him. I am sure it was difficult because whenever he was around you, he was the perfet dog. You did do the right thing, and he is no longer suffering because of it. I will always remember Carter and his hats, and his gold chair, and how regal he was. He will truly be missed by me forever.

Re: Carter is in Doggy Heaven...

I think thats why it was so hard for us to finally put him down. He was a GREAT dog around us. So well behaved. He was finally getting it through his thick skull that he wasn't allowed to jump on people when they came over! God what a waste... It makes me so MAD that the shelter that adopted him out KNEW of his problems (THere is no way the couldn't have)! Even on their website they say they only put down dogs that are sickly ill, not from behavioral problems (this is something they just put up there in the past 6 months). GAH it makes me so mad knowing someone else could go through this. grrrr....

Jen, I'm sorry this has effected you the way it has. Its so much harder when you can relate it all back to your own dogs. I love my boy. I miss him so much and will every day. I really hope that the pain lessens, because I still catch myself crying over little things. I really miss him...

If you EVER want to talk, just PM me. Carter isn't a dog I'm just going to forget. He WILL be in my heart forever.
