Re: overwhelming grief

I just feel so numb. It happened so fast. We were braced for quite a while, but he always pulled out of this. This time it was like he gave up. Even his eyes were like a glass doll. We got some good news on another subject, and even that just is not helping much at all. I just feel numb.

Words are just words from people, but very sorry you lost your Hottie. I know how much you talked about him.

Michelle, I am so sorry for your loss of Hottie - losing a heart dog hurts in a uniquely horrible way. I know I've been there. ((((((((((Michelle)))))))))

Re: overwhelming grief

I have no idea why this is the first time i have seen this thread *mutters to self bout stuff*

BM... I am SO sorry for your loss, its hard to lose our "soul dogs" (the ones who really touch us, deeper than the others)
There is nothing that any of us can say or do at times like this, but always remember many of us have you in our thoughts.

may you RIP Hottie

Re: overwhelming grief

"Soul dog" is right! The ones that grab your heart and runs with it- something that can not be explained but its obviously deeper into your own spirit. The one that completes the essence of your soul.

Re: overwhelming grief

Mother said " he was the most beautiful dog I have ever seen. ". My parents are well in their 70's but Hotties dignified gentle nature, they actually looked into a Borzoi when their last Cavalier died. They did not pursue it after learning the life span of this breed is easily 15 years old. ( ie placing them in their 90's.)

Re: overwhelming grief

I just saw this after reading your post about Galina. I'm so sorry. It's hard to lose any dog, but soul puppies are hardest of all...and the fact that they live to be grand old dames and gentlemen doesn't make it any easier. Sending you my best thoughts in this bleak time.

Re: overwhelming grief

The vet called yesterday to check on Galina and myself, and in the course of that conversation he offered what he believed would give me some peace in our decission. He said he believed that hottie had a stroke. It does help in some closure in why he went down so fast.

Re: overwhelming grief

I had that happen to me too when I lost my baby he was only 3 years old and he was the cutest teacup yorkie ever. He was my only dog at the time and went EVRYWHERE with me. I was fighting cancer and had chemo and he would lick my hand where they stuck needles and when I lost my hair from chemo he was right there cuddled up with me making it feel better. I thought I beat the cancer back them and because of him (Piton) well when he died from a livershunt I cried for 2 days straight and nonstop to the point that my husband had to buy me a dog right away. When he did he told me not to get the same breed dog because it will depress me WE bought a Chihuahua named Princeton. It helped me alot but in the back of my mind I wanted a yorkie. SO 2 years later after crying I convinced my husband that I needed to buy a yorkie. I did. Then my cancer came back in the bones. SO now Im going through chemo and radiation and surgeries all over again, without Piton. But Princeton and Chili are my life they comfort me in the same way as Piton did. But now I want a SMALL baby chihuahua and my husband is like NO. I only have room for something really small and I beg him everyday, I want a little one so bad, I can remember the look Piton gave me as the vets took him away i will never forget his look. I will post the picture below. I HAVE to HAVE another small baby I have my own money for it and everything I need a dog I can carry everywhere I go to comfort me during this horrible experience. Yesterday I told my husband I was getting one nomatter what he said, I hate to sound that way but I know what would be good for me right now. And being that my cancer will never go away I have to own a baby chi before I die and then my daughter who is a dog lover even more than I am will take all 3 but the picture below is piton

Re: overwhelming grief

Zubin and Galina work with kids with cancer. The impact they have on the childs life has been noted several times. While not all the children make it, it is obvious they are offering comfort.
