| Re: It been 6 months since Brutus left me... Oh Sugar Daddy. I know exactly how you feel. I still cry from the loss of my girls, especially my old girl. I still wake up and for a second expect her to be on the bed next to me. I love my other dogs too, but it simply does not take away from the hurt of missing our old dogs. Otis was also a handsome boy. These dogs that are good with children like that are worth their weight in gold.... and that is a lot of weight. Thank you for sharing these beautiful pictures with us. |

| Re: It been 6 months since Brutus left me... I ever wonder if the tears ever will dry. I find the memories make me smile on occasion but it usually is followed with a good cry. Brutus looks like he was a wonderful dog. The pictures of him and baby girl made me smile. Thanks for that..And hugs to you SDO...Bask in those memories especially as baby girl gets older and she asks you about him time to time. He still has a long way to live in her mind. |

I can tell you from experience the hole in your heart does not ever go away. The happy memories will begin to take over the sadness, but the emptiness will not go away...
I miss my boy like you can't imagine even after all this time.. |

| Re: It been 6 months since Brutus left me... Thank You Pooch-see in the last picture the grey hair he had? That was maybe 3 months before he died. He was 10 and really lived a great long life-a lot longer than expected of him- so for that i am happy. Thank You. |

| Re: It been 6 months since Brutus left me... Sugar Daddy, Your pictures brought tears to my eyes. You can feel his gentle soul through your pictures.
My beautiful Cali has been gone since July 4th, 2006. Your pictures remind me so much of her, the eyes especially. She had those same eyes.
Sometimes I wish I could pet her again, you know, rub behind her ears...or even...even give her a hug like old times. I miss wrapping my arms around her thick neck. I even miss her slobbering all over my jeans after I just finished getting ready.
She never seemed old to me, until the last few months of her life. Then I noticed the grey hairs, and the fact she just wasn't her young self anymore.
You think you are prepared, because you know it is going to happen someday. But then, when the day comes they are finally called home...you realize, you were never ready for it. I don't think you are ever ready for them to leave.
Brutus did his part in your life, and he has now handed the torch to Otis...he knew your beautiful daughter would need someone to grow up with, and protect her. It is now Otis's turn to watch her. |

| Re: It been 6 months since Brutus left me... Thank you everyone- maybe making this thread was a bad idea- I cried enough before it- now I am crying constantly reading the wonderful words everyone has written. I just wanted to tell you all what a great guy he was-the true love of my life, I'll tell ya-even though he was furry! I could live without a man if I had him in my life forever-if that makes sense... Thank you all for being there for me-so nice to know I have all of you!!! |

| Re: It been 6 months since Brutus left me... I feel your pain. My baby passed 1 year ago Feb.1, and I think about him all the time. My 2 kids still talk about him as if he's still here. And they are 3, and 6 years old.
I have a prayer for you that I say whenever a loved one has passed:
Indian Prayer
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in morning hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there. I did not die.
RIP Brutus. Fly with your wings!!! |

And now I'm leaking again too. Dammit! I just HAD the plumber out..
Chrissy, Don't worry, those are healing tears that carry the pain from where you hold it inside to evaporate in the world, leaving only the good memories behind. Tear by tear you will wash away your pain. When the tears stop there will be only good times left inside.
I know how much it hurts, I've borne a lot of loss in the last few years, and every fresh hurt starts the tears anew but I think they're healthy,so I welcome them. |

Dane&cockermom-if your furries are half as good as Brutus was with kids, you will be just fine !! The kids used to ride him around and have a ball-I think Otis is goind to be the same way from what I have seen...lets hope so anyway!
Oh boy...here come the tears again!! sheesh! |
